Shame sliced through Brooklyn as she realized was a stupid mistake she’d made.

Then he surprised her, running his finger over her forehead and tucking strands of hair behind her ear. She tilted her head in question, and he finally answered. “That was a promise not to harm you. But I cannot go any further.”

She wanted to hate him, but for once he wasn’t being an asshole or threatening to kill her. Plus, he’d just given her the best orgasm of her life.

If he hated humans, then his feelings about that obviously went deep. She could see he wanted her, but it wasn’t like he was the love of her life.

She pushed away her shame, then lifted her hands off his pecs, patted them, and nodded.

“Okay.” She nodded. “This didn’t happen. I understand.”

“It did happen,” he growled, putting his fingers under her chin and those steel eyes of his roaming her face, almost insisting she remember.

Brooklyn began to see a depth to Logan he’d not shown her before.

She nodded.

What did he want from her?

To make her come but not give anything of himself?

Why did she care?

Surely, she should be happy with such a delicious buzz running through her body right now, knowing he doesn’t demand more.

Perhaps he’s worried he’d hurt her.

“Don’t go out for a run tomorrow. Stay inside,” Logan said firmly, blinking away his emotion.

How did he know she did that?

Often she would go for a jog out on the castle grounds during the day when most of the vampires were asleep.

“Okay,” she replied, knowing full well he would never tell her how he knew. “Anyway, I’ll be out of your hair for a while if Sage agrees. I’m heading home to see my parents.”

Logan stepped away. His voice sounded almost angry when he asked, “Why?”

“Because...” Brooklyn frowned. “I want to. Aren’t you excited to not have an annoying human around?”

She didn’t like him questioning her like that. The dominance might work for her sexually, but if Logan thought he could boss her around, he could piss right off.

“I have to clean up and get back to work. Dr. Abbot will be here soon,” she said, then strode through the lab to the bathrooms at the rear.

When she closed the door behind her, she leaned against it and closed her eyes.

What did I just do?

CHAPTER FIFTEEN

“The LLC is set up, and we have two bank accounts in Switzerland. The funds are transferring now. By the time you return to New York, the cards should be here.” Elizabeth shared.

Nikolay stood at the window of his hotel room in Seattle with his mobile phone on speaker and sipped his whisky.

He wasn’t interested in the damn debit cards. The money was going to be moved around many times, so it was irrelevant.

“Good. How is the baby?” he asked roughly, but less harsh than when they’d met and she was simply a fuck toy.

For them all.
