“After Sarai put out the last statement, we haven’t heard a word.” One thing I could give Sarai was a thank-you for getting me out of the playboy mindset and more into the business mindset. I slowed down on a lot of stuff and after winning a few months back, I wanted to be even more focused on my goals.

“Amena is working more, and before I get busy, I want to take her on a trip with the family.”

“Where are you planning on going?”

“Belize.”

“She’ll love it.”

“I agree, and I want you guys to come with us—and your families.”

“I will check with Arianna, but you know she loves driving,” Kash replied.

“I’m down.” Brett forced his chin upwards.

Amena deserved the world, and she deserved me to spoil her. Kayne was priority number one. I lifted my vibrating phone to see her sending me a heart emoji.

“Fill me in on the details and I can see what my schedule looks like at work.”

“Gotcha, bro.”

Brett, Kash, and I laughed and joked, while the TV played coverage of the basketball playoffs.

Later, I picked up my ringing phone as I jumped in my car to leave.

“Sarai, am I your favorite?”

“Favorite asshole client.”

I chuckled as I started the car. “What’s up?”

“I got your text about a trip you’re taking.”

Sarai knew me better than anyone and hated it when I added things to her plate last minute. “We’re going on a trip with our families.”

“When is the trip happening?”

“In a month if possible.”

“Laikin, you have major deals coming on board.”

“They can be rescheduled for afterwards.”

Sarai groaned. “I hate you.”

“Why don’t you and Malik come with us?”

“No, I have too much to do. Let me move some stuff around.”

“Thanks, Sarai.”

“All about you, Laikin,” Sarai teased, hanging up the call.

My parents were both home so I shut the car off, placed my phone in my pocket, and unlocked the front door. Pops sat at the dining table, reading the paper.

I clapped him on the shoulder. “Old man, what’s shaking?”

He placed the newspaper down on the table and removed his glasses. “Sitting and enjoying my day with my woman.” The gray hairs in his beard gave me a glimpse of how I would look at his age.
