“Damn, baby.”
“I have a client coming in ten minutes. You better hurry up.”
The feel of her skin jolted my senses. “Shit, they’re gonna have to reschedule.”
“Stop playing, Laikin.” Her skin glowed with a faint sheen.
“Fuck, Amena!”
I hated to rush, but her business was important to her, and I had plans to get in some practice later today. There were no more words, just sounds of passion. With every whisper, every moan, I made her mine.
“Now you got me all sweaty and my client is probably parking right now.” Amena moved off me, pushed her skirt down, and slicked down her peach crinkled knit top.
All the furniture was modern, the carpet a shade of gray. The curtains were open, letting the sunlight stream along the walls.
I put myself back together, pinched my nose, and sat up straight. “One of the reasons I came here is because Sarai is on board with planning Kayne’s birthday party.”
Amena came out of the bathroom in her office, holding a wipe. “How much is the cost? I know she’s in high demand.”
“Cost doesn’t matter.”
“You’re not paying.” I hopped up and went to wash up.
Turning off the faucet I tossed the towel in the bin, and stared at her, then bent down and raised her chin. “Have a good day, and eat your lunch.” I ignored her stare.
“We’re not done talking about the party!”
I stalked out of the office, pressed a button for the elevator, feeling my phone vibrate in my pocket. I lifted it out of my pocket right as the bell dinged, and I hopped on, returning a text to Sarai.
Sarai: What is the theme?
Me: He loves Spiderman.
Sarai: It's going to be a very expensive day for you.
Me: No budget, he can have whatever he wants.
Sarai: That’s what I like to hear.
Me: Thanks Sarai. I appreciate you.
Sarai: You better.
I stepped out and headed to the parking structure and slid back in my vehicle, leaving my phone on the seat. I clasped the seatbelt, started the car and drove out of the building, hearing fire trucks. A bus rolled by when I came to a street light.
Speeding through the green light, I headed home to shower, work out, and prepare for the upcoming race.
Chapter Thirteen
Amena
A few weeks had passed since Laikin informed Sarai that he would be handling Kayne’s birthday party, and deep down I was grateful, since my life had exploded with new clients. The only downside was him paying for the entire event. He refused to take any money from me.
I had Kayne up for an early doctor’s appointment. He was not in the mood to be bothered and I had to bribe him with pancakes and ice cream. Laikin stayed at his condo last night. He’d worked late, making a few appearances, and me looking at designs all day left me exhausted. I held the door open for Kayne and he ran into the toy section and sat down with another kid. I stopped off at the reception desk and checked him in for the appointment. I sat down a few seats from him and picked up a magazine. A few babies cried, sending me back to when Kayne was that young.
“Ma’am?” the nurse called.
I tossed the magazine back on the table and stood up.
