“I know, but something just feels empty without her here.”

“We brought you some food. Your mother wanted to come, but I told her you’re busy.” Dad lifted the bag of food from the table and laid it on my desk.

“I can’t eat right now.”

“You’re not sleeping; at least eat to keep your strength up, son.”

“He’s right, Aydin. The only way you can help Amelia is to be alert and strong.”

“I’m sure when Nasir gets any updates, he’ll let you know.” Josiah patted me on the back.

Ring!

The phone in my office lit up, and I looked up at my brothers and father. We’d been closed ever since I got word of Amelia missing and told everyone I’d contact them when we were back up and running.

“Who could that be?” Josiah asked.

I leaned forward, picking up the phone.

“You shouldn’t have done this, Aydin.”

Her whiny voice grated my ears.

“Where is she?”

“Is that all you think about?”

“Addison.”

“No! She’s not important. I am, and you’re going to listen.”

Wesley motioned with his hand to keep talking and typed on his phone.

“What do you want?”

“Now you want to talk to me.” She laughed sarcastically.

“Whatever you think I’ve done, we can fix it.”

“We would have been good together.”

“Maybe, but you’ll have to tell me where you are so we can talk.”

“You think I’m stupid?”

“No.”

“I’m not stupid, Aydin. My plan all along was to become more powerful, then we would have been the biggest power couple in the world.”

“It can still happen.”

“No, because your so caught up with this dumb bitch!”

“Where’s Amelia?”

“She’s tied up right now. I can take a message.” She giggled through the phone.

I bit my bottom lip to stop from going off and making things worse for Amelia.
