“He’s the guy that Amelia bumped into that night.”
“So, he’s working with Addison.”
“I put my money on it that she has all of them on her payroll.”
“For him to get this close.”
“Pisses me off.”
“Where’s Amelia?”
“With Molly in her office.”
“Don’t go off and do anything crazy.”
“I can’t promise.”
“Any updates on Tristan’s whereabouts?”
“He’s skipped out on his apartment, and the landlord hasn’t received any rent for the past two months.”
“Fuck!”
“They’re testing us.”
“Addison thinks she’s in control. I’ll let her believe that but only for so long.”
I reached in my pocket and removed my cell phone and dialed a number I hadn’t used in a few weeks.
“Senator Edgar’s office.
“Tell Senator Edgar it’s Aydin Reeve.”
“I’m sorry but he’s out of the state at the moment.”
“Where?”
“I can’t give that information out, sir.”
I slammed the phone down on the desk.
“He’s gone.”
“Out of state.”
“Retrace our steps.”
“Addison could be anywhere by now.”
“Or the least obvious place.”
“Her father’s home.”
Nasir and I rose at the same time and left without a word to anyone. I texted Nicco and Reggie to stay with Amelia until I got back. Thirty minutes later, we pulled up to the home of Senator Edgar and waited for the gate to open. A car left, and we jogged through the gate and up to the house. Nasir closed the door behind me, and we headed toward his office when we heard voices.
“Mr. Edgar will be gone for a few days, so make sure the house is scrubbed top to bottom,” the house manager informed the housekeeper. We stood on the side of the wall, away from the living room, and waited for them to leave before going to the office.
“Yes, ma’am, Mrs. Eloise.”
