“On her website, it showed she’s going to do another fundraiser.”
“We might have to crash.”
“That’s fine with me, as long as I don’t have to dress up.”
Nasir tapped me on the shoulder.
“Look, she’s leaving.” He started the car and drove off behind her.
Buzz!
My phone vibrated, and I noticed an incoming call from Rory, the guard I had to monitor Amelia while I was out of town.
“She’s been reluctant for us to be around.”
“She has no choice.”
“This might not be anything, but a guy bumped into her at Walmart.”
“Did you get his license plates?”
“It happened too fast.”
“Keep me updated and call Nicco if you need backup.”
“Everything all right with Amelia?”
I sighed.
“For now.”
The next stop we came up to was a hotel, and Addison got out and headed in Lux Hotel. The limo pulled around to the VIP parking. Nasir and I hopped out, handed the keys to the valet, and went inside to watch her talk to the front desk.
“She could be meeting Tristan.”
“We need her room number.”
“They won’t give us that.”
“She hit the seventh floor.”
“Wait to see how long she stays.”
Nasir went to talk to the front desk. I stood off to the side at the payphone and watched the front entrance.
“They couldn’t give me a room number, but I flirted with the desk clerk, and she said Addison has the room for one day.”
“Then we wait.”
Six hours later.
The elevator doors opened, and Addison walked out to the lobby and turned in her key. As she talked, the older gentleman we saw from the bank approached her with his arm around her waist.
“We need his name.”
I gritted through my teeth. Even though Amelia said the man she bumped into at the hotel was younger, I’d bet money he has something to do with Addison feeling confident.
Addison was escorted to her limo, and they drove off. We hopped back in the car and followed.
