“No one.”
“His new assistant,” Josiah explained and started to describe her, but I smacked him on the back of the head.
“Ouch!” Josiah spilled some of his beer.
“Keep her name out of your mouth.”
“You must like her.” Josiah wiggled his brows.
“No, she works with us, and that means you respect her and any woman who works at the office.”
“He’s in love.”
“Shut up.”
“Maybe we were too hard on her about Addison.” Nasir sighed.
“What happened with her and Addison?” Wesley questioned.
“She thought something was funny with Addison,” Nasir said.
“Funny how?” Everyone’s attention was pulled to Nasir because he didn’t dive deep into the issue at the office.
“She thought she overheard Addison say something about killing someone.”
“Come again?” My mouth went dry at the statement.
“I wanted her to talk to you, but I guess she decided to keep it to herself,” Nasir replied, and I placed the beer on the table.
“Start from the beginning.”
“Addison Chatsworth killed someone.” Wesley looked at Nasir.
“Come to my office.” I waved for Nasir to follow me to the back, nudged the door open for him to step in, and motioned to close it behind him.
“What happened between Addison and Amelia?”
“As far as I know, Amelia might have overheard Addison discussing killing someone.”
“We both know Addison wouldn’t hurt a fly.”
“Do we?”
“What’s that supposed to mean?”
“Her family has ties into a lot of things, and we’ve only seen the surface.”
I rubbed my chin and sat in thought.
“Have you looked into what she said?”
“Not really. I’d hoped she’d tell you, because I said not to discuss it with you unless she had real evidence.” He held a regretful look across his face.
“We can’t accuse Addison of something without proof.”
“You believe her?”
“Who?”
