Thirty minutes later, we arrived at the bar. I stepped out of the car with Wesley already flirting with some girls who walked in front of us. He held the door open, and they thanked him and giggled in his face. I noticed Nasir and Nicco near the pool table in the back corner; I strolled toward them and nodded to the bartender.
“Usual, Aydin!” he called out.
“Thanks, B.”
Brian’s worked at Good Fox for about two years.
“The king has finally arrived.” Nicco bowed down in front of me, and I flipped him off.
“How long have you two been here?” I shook hands with Nasir, Nicco, Carter, and a few other guys.
“About thirty minutes,” Nasir explained.
The waitress brought over our drinks, and I took a sip right away.
“Are we all set for tomorrow?” Nasir asked.
“Yeah, it should be an easy night.”
Nicco set up another round on the table and passed a pool stick toward me.
“We should have the entire place on lock with no issues.”
I watched Nicco take the first shot, walked to the right side of him, and took the next shot.
“Isn’t that the new assistant at the office?” Carter tapped me on the shoulder. I glanced up and saw Amelia laughing with some guy, and two others. His hand lingered on the lower left side of her back, and my hand gripped the pool stick tighter.
“That’s her,” Nicco answered.
Amelia smiled at something he whispered in her ear. The four of them went to sit in a booth near the bar.
“Maybe we should invite them over here,” Nicco said.
“No,” I said.
“Why not?”
“It’s your turn.”
“Amelia!” Nasir yelled across the room, and I groaned, rubbing a hand down my face. Our eyes met, and I felt her body stiffen when I glared at them. Her friend pointed at us, and she stood and walked over to us. The guy she was with followed her.
“Who’s your friend, Amelia?” Nicco asked, and I hit him on the chest.
“Hi guys. I didn’t know you’d be here.” Amelia ignored his question.
“We like to unwind after a long week,” Nasir stated and took the pool stick out of Nicco’s hand.
“You should join us,” Nicco pressed, and Carter chuckled.
“She’s on a date,” I answered for her.
“No, I’m not.”
“Amelia.” The guy placed his hand on her waist.
She peered up at him, blushed, and pushed a piece of her hair behind her ear.
“David, these are my new co-workers at the security firm.”
