“I will, and don’t let your boss walk all over you.”

I slid into my car and shut the door, locking in my phone on the holder.

“Call me later!” she shouted and drove off as I turned the key in the ignition and reversed out of the driveway, heading to the office. My thoughts were all over the place with how I’d get Aydin to sit with me and talk over the details of how things were getting busy. Nasir had been great with checking in with me and invited me to lunch with the other people in the office.

Twenty minutes later, I arrived at work and parked in a reserved spot for employees.

“Morning! You look fabulous today,” Molly said.

I waved to Molly as I entered the building. “Thanks, I feel good.”

“How has the week been so far?”

She stood, came around the desk, and walked alongside me to my office. I turned the knob and draped my coat on the back of the door.

“The week has gone well. I still need to go through a few things with Aydin.”

“He’s in today.”

“Great. Hopefully, he gives me a little of his time.”

“You have to be a little pest with him.”

I chuckled, shook my head, and checked over my messages.

“Is he in a good mood?”

“I mean it’s Aydin; he’s always in a mood.” She laughed.

“Are you ready for time off?”

“Yes, finally I’m confident that you’ll be able to handle things.”

Ding!

A message came through on my email, and I clicked to read through the documents but noticed a few numbers looked off.

“Hummm…”

“What?”

“I don’t know, maybe I’m overthinking.”

“What are you talking about?”

“The event that Aydin is doing for the senator’s daughter is a little weird.”

“Addison’s weird.”

“How so?”

“She tries everything possible to get him to date her.”

“I think I’ve seen her in pictures. She’s pretty.”

“She’s annoying and uptight.”

“Well, the amount of people she wants to cover the event doesn’t match up with the costs.”
