“You didn’t have to do this.” Amelia looked over her shoulder at me.
“I didn’t.”
She picked up the card to read it.
“He can’t save you,” she read aloud.
“Let me see.” I took the card out of her hands and read over the words. I recognized the handwriting as belonging to Addison.
“She’s still out there.” Amelia walked into my chest.
“Aye, she can’t hurt you. I promise.”
“How did she get to my office?”
“Good question.” I lifted the phone and dialed Molly.
“Hey, girl,” Molly cheerfully answered.
“It’s me.”
“Aydin, why are you calling from Amelia’s phone?”
“When did you get to the office today?”
“Usual time, around eight.”
“I need the company log of who delivered the flowers.”
I heard her typing on the computer.
“Let me check.”
“Addison was here.”
“Here as in the office,” Molly replied.
“Yeah, Amelia’s pretty upset.”
“It shows that the flowers were signed off by Carly, but that doesn’t mean anything.”
“True, let me check the cameras.” I hung up and rubbed Amelia’s back as she cried softly in my arms.
“My parents.”
“Shushhh… Your parents are fine. Come with me to my office.”
“But.”
“We’ll get through this together.” I pressed a kiss on her forehead.
Molly helped Amelia reshuffle some of my appointments after the flower situation earlier, and now sitting in my office, I watched the playback of the camera footage from the delivery truck. Surprised to see the man Amelia described with the scar and tattoo drove the truck and walked into my building like normal. He smiled at Carly, and she took the flowers and walked off while he deliberately looked up at the camera and smiled. That only told me that Addison explained what we did and how our business was set up. Nasir shut the door behind me and took a seat in front of my desk.
“I talked to Carly, and she doesn’t remember much about the truck.”
“Did they run the plates from the outside camera?”
“Yeah, and it’s reported stolen by the flower company.”
