“Just a little.”
Everybody laughed at my statement.
“Well, let me put your mind at ease, you’re not in trouble. In fact, we want to hire you. Zoe was very impressed with your work,” Danielle spoke, passing over a document with the contract on top.
“Seriously?” I mumbled, hand across my mouth in shock.
“I watched your video and posts, and you have a loyal fan base. Built a nice following with five million followers across your social media platforms. Especially for someone at twenty-five, very impressive.”
“I told Danielle about you getting Raven Cosmetics as a trending topic. As PR for the company, we scout out constantly how the brand is doing online and the statistics showed that your review skyrocketed sales up 110% in a day,” Zoe advised.
“We would like for you to be a brand ambassador. We’re taking Raven Cosmetics to an everyday-women level that loves makeup and style.
“It was Zoe’s idea to have Raven on the map as the place to be for all women. Make a more hands-on approach with getting the product to everyday customers, showcasing style and perspective,” Danielle said.
“I don’t know what to say,” I replied.
“Say yes, so this grumpy guy can head back home to his wife and kids,” Zoe teased, pointing at Elijah. The entire room laughed as Elijah shrugged his shoulders at her comment.
“I’d love to, and I have so many ideas. Wow, this is incredible,” I answered.
“Great! Look over your contract, and how soon can you move down here? I know Virginia is south of New York is your home base, but most of what you’ll be doing is here in Virginia. I understand your family is in New York, but the company base is here, so we’d need you to move to Virginia,” Danielle stated.
“Not long, maybe a week.”
“We can put you up at a hotel until we get you a place to stay. I know you’re at
Ocean View Hotel, is that okay for you for the time being? Of course, all of this is on the company,” Danielle stated.
“Yes, that works fine.”
“That means I can head out and leave you ladies to discuss all the gossip. Welcome to the team, Lauren,” Elijah said, before standing up, then leaning over the table to shake my hand.
“Don’t listen to him, I’m excited to have you on board. I don’t work out of the Virginia office full-time. I have my main publicity business in here for other brands, but I’ll pop in every blue moon. Now Danielle is running the company since Elijah bought it from Jackson,” Zoe insisted.
“Thank you again.” I grinned, trying to keep the excitement from bubbling up and freaking everyone out.
“We will see you in a week, Lauren, please don’t hesitate to call me if you need anything right away. Here’s my personal number in case of an emergency. Kasey will give you all of your details on your way out,” Danielle told me. I shook her hand again and grabbed the paperwork leaving the conference room. I headed to Kasey’s desk.
“All set?” Kasey questioned.
“I am. Danielle told me you’d have some information for me.”
“Oh yes, here’s your flight information and hotel. We will have you in the same room suite when you return. They will give you a driver and company card when you sign off on your contract.”
“I’m really working at Raven Cosmetics,” I stated.
“I can’t wait to see what you come up with.”
“Me too.”
I walked toward the elevator, stepped on and hit the button to go back down. I pulled my phone out of my purse and dialed my cousin’s number, keeping my head low. A few minutes later, it came to my destination and I stepped off and ran into a hard body.
“Ouch!” I shouted. I pressed my hand on top of his arms to prevent him from falling down and instead, I ended up dropping my phone.
“Are you okay?” I heard a deep, smooth, seductive voice question.
“Have you ever heard of elevator etiquette?” I questioned, peering up into the most enchanting brown eyes glaring back at me.
