“Hey, don’t say that aloud. Somebody might hear you.” Sarai laughed.

She headed out of the guest parking and drove off back to the office. Colton came out of the hospital talking on his phone. He held his finger up for me to wait.

“Yeah, let me call you back,” Colton said, ending his call.

“Was Sarai going back to her office?” Colton asked.

“Yep, and I need to get over to check on my mom and head to the gym to get a workout in before the next race,” I said.

“Rylee told me you were hanging at the house the other day. You good?” Colton asked.

“I’m good, don’t worry. Your star driver isn’t going back down the road of stolen cars anytime soon,” I explained.

“Just checking in on you. The money and fame can go any day,” Colton said.

“I got you, man,” I said and drove to my mom’s house.

I pulled up an hour later, and she was outside gardening in her yard. I parked in front of her driveway and removed my keys. I shut the door, walked up on her, and kissed her cheek.

“What’s up, old lady?”

She scowled at me, and I cracked up at her facial expression.

“Sorry, beautiful.”

“Grab a pair of gloves and help me plant these roses,” she said.

“Where did you get roses from?” I questioned.

“A friend brought them over to me,” she told me.

“What friend? Please, don’t tell me you’re dating?” I questioned.

“Maybe,” she teased.

“Ughh… I’m going to be sick.”

“Aren’t you dating?” she questioned.

“Nope.”

“Pass me the glass of lemonade, please,” Mom said.

“Sure.”

I passed it over to her before placing the gloves on.

“All right, where do I start?” I asked.

“Here, take the rose bed and plant them here.”

“How was your day?” I asked.

“It was good. I went to the house and helped out Rylee with the boys, ate lunch, and came home.”

“Cool. I need to help Shane with his driving practice.”

“How was the hospital?”
