“Really?” Cass rolls to her side and lifts my hand from my eyes. “What about the rest of the outfit? The leather jacket and pants?” she asks, her light green eyes sparkling with desire.

“Yes, I have it all.”

“Surprise me with it sometime?” she asks.

“Surprise you?”

“Yes.”

“Fine. But promise me that you won’t try to kill me if I sneak up in here in the middle of the night wearing it.”

“I won’t. The unexpected is hot,” Cass says, followed by a long pause. “It’s why I didn’t mind Lowell and Matt turning off the lights and cornering me in the gym that night.”

“No. Nuh-uh,” I grumble with a shake of my head. “I don’t want to talk about them ever again.”

“You pulled the trigger?” she asks.

“Yes.”

“Both times?”

“Yes.”

Running her finger down the center of my chest, to my abs, she whispers, “That shouldn’t be hot, should it?” Before I can figure out how to answer her question, Cass climbs on top of me, straddling my waist to align our lower bodies yet again. I’m glad I’m not the only one who can’t seem to get enough.

“You know,” she starts and presses her lips along my jaw then down to my neck. “I let you fuck my mouth to keep you from ratting us out to my father who would’ve killed both men slowly. It was all for nothing now.”

“I’m sorry.”

Giving my cheek a slap of her palm, she says, “Stop apologizing, jackass.”

“Fine. Stop talking about other dicks that have been inside of you.”

Cass lifts her head. Her eyes narrow as she stares down at me. “How many cougars have you been inside?”

“Three.”

“Only three?”

“Only three cougars,” I answer since I can’t tell her the total number of women I’ve been with. Before she can ask, I tell her, “I did two scenes with each woman. For the record, they were all unmarried women pretending to be married.”

“Uh-huh. But you’re done with all that now, right?”

I have to lower my eyes from her when I admit the truth. “I, ah, I had to take another contract for one more scene.”

“What? Why?” Cass asks, rearing back like I just slapped her in the face.

“Because I needed the advance. I used that money, along with the cash I’ll get from selling the rings we got from the rat, to keep one of the cougars from sharing my identity with the world. My mother may have actually killed me for that.”

Cass frowns. “Someone’s demanding money to keep your name a secret?”

“Yes, and it wasn’t the first time either.”

“What a fucking cunt,” Cass remarks. After a minute, she leans her face closer to mine and asks, “Do you want me to kill her?”

Grinning up at her, I say, “Killing her might be easier than finding money again in a year or whenever she comes back wanting more. I know my name will probably come out eventually by someone who knows it’s me. Actually, I wouldn’t have put it past the old Cass from a few weeks ago to out me to my mom and Dante.”

Smiling from ear to ear, she says, “I wouldn’t have put it past her either. “
