“Do you want me asking questions or would you rather tell me about that night?”

Kathryn started crying. Eve reached over and opened the glove box and handed her a tissue.

“Take your time,” she said.

Kathryn never looked up.

“Sister Linda called me. She is Hannah’s aunt. Hannah went there after she murdered her family. She told Linda what happened. I was called to the house but there was little I could do. Hannah fell asleep on the couch after she took a shower. Killing her family didn’t bother her.”

“Linda Wall?” Eve needed to be sure.

“Yes.”

“Have you spoken to Linda since that night?”

“No. My husband told me to forget what I knew.”

“Did you tell anyone other than your husband?”

“No, but Candace saw me when I came home at around three.”

“Did you go to the Tanner home?”

“No, I’ve never been inside.”

“Did you speak to law enforcement or Aaron Owens, the county attorney?”

“No. I was told never to speak of it again.”

“Do you know what happened to Hannah’s bloody clothes?”

She nodded and Eve waited for her answer.

“I hid them.”

Eve hadn’t expected this.

“Where are they?” she asked.

“I buried them in our backyard.”

Eve glanced at Bina who picked up Eve’s camera and handed it to her. They had an evidence bag in the back.

“Will we need a shovel?”

“No, I’ll show you where they are.”

The clothing was buried in loose dirt a few inches down. The blood on the dress and undergarments was easily identified. Hannah’s shoes and socks were buried with them. They also discovered an empty bottle of Benzodiazepine. The prescription information was torn away.

“Does your husband know you had them?”

“No one knew but Linda. This could have been stopped if someone had gotten Hannah out of that home. I was afraid. I’m sorry I didn’t say anything sooner.” She glanced at Eve for the first time. “Is Hannah okay?”

“Hopefully, someday, she will be.” Eve hoped it was the truth.

She asked Kathryn a few more questions before they drove away. She didn’t know where Linda and her family were staying. Eve believed her.

“She obstructed us during a felony investigation,” Bina said, her words tight. “If she’d told the truth, Hannah wouldn’t have had a chance to attack you.”
