Page 57 of Pucked Together

I close my eyes and let it sink in.

The feel of his lips on my skin and the way my body reacts to him is so stimulating. When I open my eyes, I see Trevor staring right at us. Then he looks away when he catches me staring back.

Fergie grabs the beers he's ordered and takes one to Teagan, who's already dancing. They clink, and the guys form a circle around him as they cheer for their soon-to-be former teammate.

My eyes are on the team the entire time, and I don't even notice when Rina slips onto the barstool next to me.

"Gotta love a good celly night," she says as she waves down Justin for a drink.

I turn to her, startled. "Hey! I wasn't expecting to see you out tonight."

"Eh, I usually stay away from potential PR nightmares like these, but it seems as good a time as any to join in on the fun."

Justin comes by to take her order.

"Whiskey. Neat," she purrs.

He gives her a nod and fetches her drink.

"He's cute," she whispers to me when he's out of earshot.

I giggle. She has her hair down for the first time since I've met her. And, of course, she's dressed to the nines—Femme fatale with a tight black dress and strappy four-inch heels. I can't help but think we look like sisters.

Ryker lets out another disapproving growl beside me.

"Down, boy," I whisper from the side of my mouth. "Justin's harmless."

"I'll let you two girls have your time," he says, shooting me a death glare.

Jealous much?

I bat my lashes at him as he grabs his water and stalks over to his teammates.

"So, how was it?" Rina asks. At first, I wonder if she's asking about Ryker and me or…

"Your first real game shooting the boys, right?" she clarifies.

"Oh," a nervous laugh escapes me. She means work. "Exhilarating, there's no chill the whole time."

She smirks. "You got some pretty great shots. Couldn't help but notice you favored a certain... goalie."

"I mean, he did give us quite a game."

"He did," she agrees.

Justin presents her drink, and she nods her approval. "Thank you, sugar."

"My pleasure, beautiful, " he smiles at her and crosses the bar to take another customer's order.

I'm sure the Thunder god gets gawked at regularly from this side of the bar. Must suck to be so gorgeous.

"Too bad I can't get an order of him on the rocks," Rina says huskily as she takes a sip.

She swivels in her barstool so we're both facing the team.

Keelan keeps glancing over in our direction, and at first, I think he's looking out for me, but then I notice it's not me he's looking at. It's Rina.

I look over at Rina, who tucks a loose strand behind her ear and then sweeps her eyes across the bar, completely unbothered.
