“You’re good for me.” Juliet tipped her wine glass in Paige’s direction. She narrowed her eyes. “Yeah. Really good for me. We’re going to make a great team.”
“Maybe. Who knows.”
“I’m usually a very good judge of character. So, me. I know.”
“Did you…want to walk home together? Y-you don’t have anywhere to be?”
Juliet knew Paige was still hesitant about Rachel now and then, but she’d been the farthest thing from Juliet’s mind since the night she’d slid her fingers through Paige’s wetness. That spoke volumes in terms of how she felt about her escort. It really had just been business. Whereas Juliet trembled at the mere thought of Paige beneath her.
“No. I’m all yours. Let me get my bag. I’ll just be a minute.”
Paige remained relaxed as Juliet approached her, shoving her other hand in her pocket and leaning heavier on one leg. “Sure. No rush.”
Juliet stopped in front of her, drawing a fingertip across her wrist. “Whatever is happening here between us, know that I’m in.” Juliet dipped her eyes momentarily to Paige’s cleavage, her hands desperately wanting to touch Paige in the most intimate of places. “Entirely in.”
Paige pressed her body to Juliet’s, smiling into a kiss. “I think we both know what’s happening here, don’t you? And I think it’s time for you to collect your stuff so we can leave. I have…things to take care of.”
“Mm. That’s the right answer.” Juliet stepped away and made a beeline for the office. When she grabbed her bag and reached to turn out the lamp, her phone vibrated in her back pocket.
Blonde guy. Directed him away from the building. Tried to gain access via a different apartment number seven minutes ago.
Juliet swallowed, gathering her thoughts for a moment or two before she faced Paige again. She didn’t want her to know that someone was watching over her, and she didn’t want her to know that someone had tried to get into the building.
Can you pick us up? I’m locking up now. If she asks, you’re a cab driver.
I’ll be outside in three minutes.
“Juliet?” Paige called out, jangling her keys in her hand. “The sooner you get out of the office, the sooner I can be taking care of all your stresses.”
“Relax. I’m coming.” She beamed a smile as she locked the office door and made her way back to Paige. “I decided that since I couldn’t wait too long, I’ve booked us a cab.”
Paige gripped the front of Juliet’s blouse and dragged her into a heated kiss. When she pulled back, their noses brushing, Paige moaned. “Who the hell knew I’d end up with someone like you when I got here?”
“Oh, I hoped. From the second you walked down those stairs.”
Juliet felt the vibration in her back pocket. It would be her guy telling her he was outside.
“Come on. Let’s get out of here.”
* * *
Paige stepped out of the lift hand-in-hand with Juliet as they strolled down the corridor. She wasn’t sure they’d make it to Juliet’s apartment, and since Paige’s was nearer, it made sense to stay the night there. “Let me find my key.”
Juliet stroked a palm up Paige’s bicep, resting her head on Paige’s shoulder. These were the moments Paige hadn’t realised she needed. Another woman holding onto her. Wanting to be with her. “Let’s go to my place instead.”
“But mine is right here.”
Juliet smiled as she cocked her head towards her own apartment. “And mine is right there.”
“Fine. Okay. But is there a reason you don’t want to come into mine?” Paige was thinking too deeply into this, but Juliet really didn’t seem to want to step foot inside Paige’s place. “Juliet?”
“I think we need my bed. I have…the view and stuff. You know—”
Paige held up a hand, cutting Juliet off. “Fine. You win.”
It didn’t really matter where it happened. Tonight, Paige just wanted to get her hands on Juliet’s body again. She wanted to touch Juliet in all the ways she’d dreamt of since the last time.
She followed Juliet two doors down, stepping inside her apartment in no time at all. Juliet was just as eager as Paige was. Thankfully. But then Juliet suddenly turned around, a slight frown present. “Do…you have a picture of your husband?”
