“We have a plan in motion. We should have my mom and Gabby back tonight. Then we’re riding into war against the Feral Kings.”
“You promise you’ll be careful.”
“Always, Thea. I have everything I want waiting for me back home.”
“Dad and Mattie …”
“They’re okay, sweetheart. Try not to worry. We’re bigger than this club. We have a bunch of allies here. We’ll win and I’ll be home to you soon.”
“Promise?”
“Promise,” I answer.
“I love you, Dom.”
My eyes close with the sweetness of her words. I’ll never get tired of hearing them. Thea doesn’t know it, but she saved my life. Her love pulled me out of a hole that I had no hope of escaping without her.
“I love you, Thea. You’re the air I breathe, woman,” I confess. I look up to see King and T walk in. King is studying me, but T smiles. I return it. He’s happy for me. “Hey, Gorgeous, T and King just came in. King’s getting ready to head back. I need to talk to them. I’ll call you when I can, okay?”
“Just take care of yourself, please?”
“Will do.”
“Tell Thomas I love him.”
I balk immediately. “Um, no.”
“No?”
“I’m not telling another man that you love him, Thea. You’re mine.”
“Oh my God, you’re being an idiot. Thomas is like my brother.”
“But he’s not your brother. He’s mine. You’re only allowed to love me and any babies that I put in your belly.”
“You’re a moron. I love Mattie and my father too. You going to get all puffed up over that, too?”
“They’re your blood. T is not.”
“Love you, too, Thea,” T calls out and I growl at him, making even King laugh. It’s not what makes my heart somersault though. No, that would be the sound of my woman’s laughter tinkling in my ear. It sounds like the sweetest music. This woman is everything to me.
“Are you okay, Dom? You’re not about to separate your brother’s head from his shoulders, are you?” she giggles.
“He’s safe as long as you promise to make it up to me when I get home.”
“I’ll give it my best shot,” she vows.
“Fuck, I may not survive,” I respond, and I’m not really joking. Thea is a wildcat in bed and I’m the lucky bastard she gives her body to.
We trade I love yous. I hang up, finding myself staring at my phone a little longer. My woman is the only thing that keeps me sane right now. She probably has no idea, but I sure as fuck do.
“I never thought I’d see the day when my brother would be like this,” T responds, and it hits me that he doesn’t stutter once. Something about that makes me feel even better than Thea’s laugh did.
“Like what? Totally in love? Completely and utterly owned by a woman?”
“Pretty much,” T responds with a wry smile.
“Don’t look at me like that. You and King both have women. I’m sure you’re the same way. T nods, but I notice he casts a look up at King. King’s face is mostly stoic. I can’t read him at all.
