My heartbeat takes off in my chest. Is this really happening? Does she really want this?

I’m too desperate to touch her after two days, too desperate for whatever is happening right now. Sliding one hand around her hip, I pull her closer to me.

After a moment, albeit with some hesitance, I decide to say carefully, “We can keep things as they are, if you want. I don’t want distance between us either, but?—”

She’s shaking her head before I’m even done talking, making relief rush through my body.

“I don’t want to keep things as they are,” she says, no hesitation in her voice. “I want you, Ryder. I don’t want to be casual anymore.”

“Are you saying what I think you’re saying?” I murmur.

Hearts in her eyes, she nods. “I want to do this. I want to give this a shot. Give us a shot.”

A huge grin stretching across my face, I weave my hand into her hair so I can tilt her face up to mine.

“Good, because I’m sick of being casual, Vanessa.”

And then I kiss her.

I erase every doubt, every moment we both held back over these past weeks. We’re back to that first meet, that night I laid eyes on her at this exact table.

That memory has me groaning, deepening our kiss, relishing how she melts right into me. Which is exactly what I wanted to do the first time I saw her.

“If I didn’t have my employees coming in any moment, I’d fuck you right over this table right now,” I growl against her lips.

She laughs, the sound light and airy. I love that I can kiss her now when I hear that sound.

Sure enough, I take her mouth again. And this time, she’s gasping for breath when I finally pull away.

“I might be in over my head with you,” she says in a daze.

I give in to my grin. “No way. I’m yours to command, remember?”

She laughs again, but right before I can kiss her again, she pushes lightly at my chest.

“Go. Get ready for the dinner rush. I have plans today.”

I quirk an eyebrow. “Oh yeah? What’s on the agenda?”

“Design research,” she answers. And then her smile grows, and fuck, she’s the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen with that pure joy brightening her face. “For a job interview.”

“That’s amazing, babe,” I say, pride shining in my voice. “Holy shit, congratulations.”

And then she steps close once again and pushes up on her toes to place her lips by my ear.

“And then tonight, I want to spend the whole night seeing how many times I can take my boyfriend’s cock,” she purrs.

I let out a groan and drop my face into her neck. Fuck. That word. “You little minx. Now I’m going to be cooking with a hard dick all night.”

She laughs and steps away from me, putting real distance between us this time.

“You better figure out how to get rid of it, then.” Mischief twinkles in her eyes. “Because I’m the only one who gets hit on by the waiter.”

I grin, happiness bubbling inside me.

“Damn right, babe.”
