“Send them in,” Psycho says, laughing at Colt’s obvious anger.

Two men walk inside, and Jennings looks surprised. “Finnegan. Mac.”

Lex shuts the door, and Colt flips the bird at the closed door. “Motherfucker!”

“She’s swooning, man,” the redheaded one says. “Better watch your girl.”

“Fuck,” Colt says and moves to his seat. It seems to be the only word he’s capable of saying.

“Finnegan, what’s going on?” Jennings asks.

He looks at the other man, who must be Mac, and lets out a long breath. “We wanted to ask a favor.”

“Already?” Ky asks, jokingly.

“I know you haven’t decided if you want to allow us to help you or not, but if you do, and it meets your expectations...”

“We’d like you to consider patching us over,” Mac finishes.

Psycho shakes his head. “Wait, you’re asking us to patch you over without your President here?”

“He’s going to get us killed if he doesn’t have others he has to answer to,” Finnegan says. “We love Dax, but he’s not the same man who cares about the club. Not since Dani died.”

“What’ll Dax think when he finds out you brought this up to us without him?” Jennings asks.

“He probably won’t even care,” Mac says. “He doesn’t seem to care about anything anymore. Which was good when we were getting out of drugs, but now... we’d like to keep ourselves above ground.”

Jennings nods. “We’ll think about it.”

“I need to get out there,” Colt says, his knee bouncing. “Are we done?”

“Yes, go,” he laughs and bangs the gavel. “Gunner, you’ll talk to Undertaker about the plan?”

“Yep,” Gunner says, laughing at Colt racing out into the main room.

Psycho watches the man grab his wife possessively and introduce himself to the giant of a man sitting at the bar. He’s almost double Colt’s size, and it’s true. If Lex left him for this guy, there’s nothing he could do to stop it. Which is more entertaining than it reasonably should be.

Brock walks past him, and he pulls him aside. “Hey, can you get me everything you know on a Charles Helmer ASAP? He’s got ties to Mexico, which should narrow down the search. I’m not sure how many men they have affiliated with the last name Helmer. Not exactly native to the area.”

“Uh, sure. Needed before or after the Slasher info?”

“Before. Please.”

The man nods, and Psycho watches him head off to his apartment. As long as Brock pulls the same information he was given by Diego, he plans to take care of this favor as soon as possible.

Chapter Twenty-Nine

Griffin’s Beach

Psycho

Jennings writes on a notepad as Psycho walks into the Chapel. “What are we at so for?”

The Army Five, Gunner, and Undertaker made a plan the night they proposed the idea, and they haven’t stopped since. Tonight is the second night they lie in wait to take out more Slashers. They’ve made more progress than expected, and they’ve almost made it to the outer edge of the radius they set up, so Brock quickly accessed more information for them to expand the radius.

“After last night’s excursion, they hit over two hundred Slashers,” Jennings says.

“In one night?” Psycho asks and stares in awe. “Wow.”
