I closed my eyes, seeing all those innocent girls. “Thank goodness.”
In one second, the bedsheets are ripped off me, and Apollo covers my body with his.
“Apollo!” I shriek, laughing. My legs are spread, wrapped around his waist. Skin on skin, if you get my meaning. My face heats.
He groans, grinding his hips.
My body ignites.
“I can’t get enough of you. But I have to eat. I’m hungry,” he rasps. “Starving, actually.”
“You’re hungry?” I ask, confused. We did have high activity all night with no nourishment. Apollo is a large man.
“Yes, for breakfast.” He leans back and grins. Apollo suddenly grabs my thighs, yanking them over his shoulders. His head is now between my legs as the realization hits me.
I gasp, jolting with pleasure. It seems surreal. My vision swims as I feel his scorching hot mouth devour me.
We are supposed to leave at first light.
I think we might be a little late this morning.
Chapter 33
We left a few days ago. The journey feels long when one has a veil of guilt hanging over them.
Dread sinks into every pore of my body.
These are the final days—it’s almost over.
I am happy and smiling on the outside, but on the inside, I am screaming. I feel sick, nervousness taking me hostage. I can’t sleep and I can barely eat, feeling my doom approaching.
Apollo seems overjoyed. I’m sure the scales on the Fairy Godmother radar are above 50 percent now.
The evil is dropping. People are starting to thrive, the blanket of evil lifted due to the capture of Irena and her dark army.
~Will Apollo still want me?~ is the burning question.
I squeeze my eyes shut and take a steady breath. I mean, men in the past have taken the information well and have had ~happily-ever-afters~. Apollo could be the same.
I think he will take it well enough, but I’m just not sure. Apollo could feel played, betrayed in a sense, like my love was just an act. I hope not.
He might not even believe me. I’m sure Fairy Godmother Inc. will have to give me something to prove to him that I am who I say I am, and not a lunatic.
I gaze out over the ocean as we near land ahead.
I feel arms circle around my waist, making me tense, then I sigh when I feel his lips on my neck. “What has you scowling?” Apollo whispers.
I smile, hiding my inner panic. “Nothing, just glad to get off this ship.”
“Are you nervous?”
I look at him. “About?”
“Our engagement announcement in two days,” he says with a pointed look. Apollo nuzzles my neck, breathing me in.
I swallow.
He is having the engagement party on the same day that I will tell him my big secret. Why would he do that? That just puts even more pressure on me. Maybe Pierce has a gentle way I can tell him.
