My phone vibrates in my hand, and before I even glance at it, I know it’s going to be Ty.
We’re having brunch at my house, of course
I didn’t want to risk you being seen in public with me. I know how much cheer means to you.
A soft smile turns up my mouth. That’s really freaking thoughtful, and instant relief goes through me. I should have thought of it, to be honest, and it’s a sign of how distracted I am by Ty and the new business and cheer and all the weirdness of my life right now.
Of course he’s having me over to his house to meet his parents for brunch.
It just makes sense.
Should I bring something? I didn’t realize it was at your house
Just you, in a dress, no underwear
I can’t help the smug grin that plays across my face.
You wish
I really do
I never thought I’d get turned on by text messages, but I am. Maybe I should put my underwear back on.
But I don’t, and the whole time I’m driving to Ty’s house, I feel like I have a naughty, fun secret. It’s not like I have to tell him about it.
This is just for me.
Isn’t it?
CHAPTER 16
BEAVER CHEER RULEBOOK
Guidelines for Cheerleader Etiquette at Social Functions
Often, cheerleaders will be expected to attend social functions as representatives of the Organization. This should be a highlight of the Cheer experience, as well as a way for cheerleaders to network with community leaders and businessmen. Proper etiquette is required.
When in doubt, use silverware from the outside in.
Bread is to be broken into smaller than bite-sized chunks, and then dipped into butter on the bread plate.
Always leave a quarter of your food on your plate.
Cross silverware over each other on your plate to signal that you are done with your meal.
Never speak with your mouth full.
Only speak when spoken to at functions, and never interrupt the invitees.
CHAPTER 17
TYLER
My heart nearly stops when I open the door and find Savannah on my doorstep, chewing her lower lip in that nervous habit that charms the hell out of me. I don’t think I’ll ever get used to how breathtaking she is, how perfect, with her hair in a cute little knob on the back of her neck, her face fresh and pretty.
She’s wearing a dress.
“Hey, Peaches,” I say casually, even though my palms are sweating with nerves.
