“Lori told her you wanted her to work upstairs at Belladonna, because of the shortage.”

“What the fuck? No, that’s not what I said,” he growled. “The floor manager at Belladonna called out and since I’m not there, I wanted her to fill in. I texted Courtney.”

Leia folded her arms and glared at the woman. “How did you know Hunter wanted her to help out?”

“I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

“Answer the question,” Brim bit out, causing Lori to flinch.

“I, um, might have looked through Courtney’s phone.”

“Well,” Leia said, shaking her head. “I can tell you that Adira looked devastated since this bitch basically said her pussy was now for sale.”

“I’m going to kill that fucking bitch!”

Lori jumped, looking terrified. Ghost kept his hand on her shoulder, preventing her from escaping.

“Damn it, Adira doesn’t have a phone. Can you tell her to call me? Please?”

“I will.”

Brim ended the call, and then they all looked at the woman cowering in front of them.

“I can explain,” she whispered.

“Leia,” Brim said. “Go get Adira. I think she should have a say in how we punish this stupid cunt.”

Leia turned and headed upstairs, knocking on their door. No answer. She knocked again, louder.

“Adira? Are you there? It was a misunderstanding.” Still, nothing. “Adira?”

She turned the doorknob, a little surprised it was unlocked, and stuck her head in. Adira was nowhere to be found, but the closet door stood open and Leia realized all her clothes were gone. Entering the room, she noticed an empty dresser-drawer. A bad feeling gripped her and she hurried back downstairs and into Brim’s office.

“She’s gone,” she said.

Brim stood up. “What?”

“Adria. She’s gone.”

“Fuck,” Brim muttered. “Ghost, handcuff this bitch somewhere, then get ahold of Hunter and Ares. Tell them what happened. I’m going out to see if I can find her.”

Ghost nodded and yanked Lori up to pull her out of the office. Leia picked up her little son and hurried after her husband.

“She couldn’t have gone far,” she said to him.

Brim kissed her mouth and then placed a gentle kiss on Leo’s head. “Let’s hope not.”

Chapter Twenty-Two

Livia’s house was dark, which meant her friend was out. Probably with Courtney. Part of her was glad she didn’t have to explain anything that night. She certainly wasn’t up for any kind of “I told you so.” The other part wished her friend was there so she could have some comfort.

She walked up the dark driveway but before she reached the front door, a noise had her spinning around. The large, hulking shadow made her heart stop until she got a better look at the man.

“Dad?”

Her father halted in front of her. Larger than life and just as intimidating. She took a step back. Vincent Dobias always had a superior air about him but she figured that was only because of the leadership role he played in the congregation as the pastor. This man, however, was the liar and thief who had betrayed everything she believed in. The darkness bathed his face in long shadows, lending an almost demonic air about him. She now saw him for who he really was, and he sickened her.

“How did you find me?”
