Shaking my head, I said, “Going out tonight. Tell Agony and Trash I need them.”

“Road trip?”

“More like a teaching moment.”

Frost nodded, his silence lingering when he retreated into the shadows, leaving me alone in the encompassing darkness once again.

From the darkness, I watched as Ivy entered the club-owned apartment building and moments later the lights in her apartment turned on.

“Couldn’t let me have this one, could you?”

“And let you have all the fun. Hell no,” Logic stated, walking out of the shadows.

I lit a cigarette, exhaled a cloud of smoke and gave a piercing glare. “How the fuck did you get here so fast?”

“Was only a half-mile run. More like a brisk walk.”

Frustrated, I rolled my eyes and then shifted my gaze back to the apartment complex.

“I know you didn’t come empty-handed, so tell me what you learned.”

“Apparently, our bartender didn’t come straight from New York City like Slash believes. She took a detour to Miami, Florida first.”

“What the fuck was she doing there?”

“Looking for information about her birth mother. A woman named Amelia Scott. But that’s not the interesting part. What you want to know is that Amelia Scott also had a son. A man named Gideon Scott. Or as the motorcycle world knows him, Malice. The enforcer for the Soulless Sinners.”

Inhaling deeply on my cigarette, I exhaled a stream of smoke that mingled with the shifting breeze, momentarily obscuring my view. And then, in that instant, I saw something that brought me to a sudden halt.

An education doesn’t always equate to intelligence, as proven when the college idiots turned the corner and sealed their fate.

“Who the fuck knows you followed me?”

“Everyone.” Logic grinned just when an owl hooted off in the distance, followed closely by the screech of a hawk. In the dark of night, the street came alive with creatures of all kinds, letting me know I wasn’t alone.

With a sense of satisfaction, I couldn’t help but smile when I took a deep breath and carefully raised the cigarette to my lips, savoring the rich aroma as I slowly inhaled and allowed the smoke to permeate my lungs.

Those college idiots were on the verge of gaining a valuable lesson that would leave a lasting impact but only after I finished indulging in my new favorite pastime and promptly obtained some answers.

“Have them waiting for me in the hole. I’ll be there shortly.”

Out of nowhere, the brothers materialized and swiftly subdued the three college boys with remarkable speed.

Fuckers never had a chance.

I exhaled one last puff of smoke and casually tossed the cigarette butt onto the pavement before dismounting my bike and embarking on my journey across the street.

The time for truth had come.

Chapter Ten

Luc

I never claimed to be a decent man. Hell, if I was being honest, I was a fucking bastard who didn’t have two fucks to rub together.

I was self-centered, uncaring, and possibly borderline narcissistic.

I didn’t give two shits about what was morally correct.
