“So you admit to doing it? You admit you hit her? What else did you do? Did you touch her?” I seethe, walking towards him.

He holds up his hands in defence, standing up, and the other soldiers stand too. I look to Mikhail, and he exchanges the same look back at me.

I look over my shoulder. “Theia, go inside,” I order.

“No.” She sniffs.

“Kroschka, I don’t want you to see this,” I point out.

“Are you going to kill him?” she asks. I don’t answer her, I pull the gun from my waistband. “Holy shit, you're packing?!” She gasps behind me.

“Kroschka,” I growl in warning.

The atmosphere is tense, I know that Oleg is armed, he always is. I don’t know these soldiers well enough, but if I had to guess, I'd say they are too. I don’t have to wait long to find out as all of them pull a gun, aiming it at myself and Mikhail.

“That is a very stupid mistake,” I warn.

Oleg laughs. “I don’t see how it is, Pakhan,” he spits. “See, there are two of you and four of us.”

They keep taking steps back. “You hurt my woman and now you pull a gun on me… I would enjoy what sun you can get at this moment because I am fucking burying you,” I threaten.

Unfazed, Oleg laughs. One of the other men look over the side of the boat and whistles. They move quickly and jump over the side of the boat and into the sea.

“Why didn’t you shoot them?” Theia yells.

I walk to her and kiss her, shutting her up. “Next time I say get the fuck inside, you do as you’re fucking told,” I chastise.

“They’ve gone, they had a boat pick them up. I swear to you, boss, I had no fucking idea,” Mikhail defends.

“I know. Fuck. Mikhail, contact everyone we have in Monaco. I want them hunted down like the fucking vermin they are.”

Theia

Kaid hasn’t let me go. I'm thankful because seeing them––seeing that son of a bitch––scared me, and for a brief moment, the thought entered my mind that Kaid was behind it.

“I will kill them, Kroschka,” Kaid admits while soothing me.

I turn in his arms and thread my fingers through his short hair at the base of his neck. “I know you will, just be careful, okay?” I ask, worried.

He smiles and brings my palm to his lips, placing a soft kiss. “There is no reason to be worried for me, I am more than capable of taking care of things.”

“I get it, you're the big scary mafia boss, doesn’t mean I won’t worry. Although, I didn’t think I would find a near shootout exciting. I should have been terrified but it was a rush,” I admit.

Kaid smiles and kisses my head. “I'm going to take you shopping today,” he states.

I frown, looking at him like he's crazy. “Do you think that’s a good idea when we’ve just had four men threaten to kill you?” I point out.

“They won’t shoot me in a public place, they will want somewhere private. I still hold power over them, I have eyes everywhere,” he states confidently. “You need to get off this boat before you go completely insane,” he adds. “We might have to be on this boat for another week yet, so enjoy the freedom of Monte Carlo.”

Well, in that case, I hope he's right. “You're right about that, but I’d rather go insane on here knowing you're okay.”

“Kroschka, trust me,” he orders. I nod, I do trust him, it’s the crazies with the guns I don’t trust.

“Do you like it?” Kaid asks.

“It’s beautiful.” I nod.
