Sid shook his head.

“That’s my ol’ lady and my son,” I thundered.

Sid backed up a couple of feet. “Oh, fuck.”

“You didn’t think that through, did you?” Wraith moved toward Sid, slamming his fist into the wall above his head as Sid backed against it. “Why did you do it?”

“For my sister. She’s sick.”

Wraith sighed.

Zane moved in front of Sid, forcing his father to back off. “It’s true. Sid’s little sister needs medication, and it’s expensive. Their insurance sucks. It doesn’t cover shit.”

Fuck. I couldn’t even be mad at Sid after I heard that. Yeah, I fucking hated Raptor’s bike got fucked up, but now that I knew why, it fizzled my anger.

My worry switched to the man causing so much chaos in my life. Where the fuck did he come from?

“You’re sure you didn’t recognize the guy in the hoodie? His voice? Anything?”

“No, man. I swear.”

My Reaper sensed he told the truth.

“This is what’s gonna happen. “You’re working for me until you’ve paid off the cost of my bike’s repairs.”

Sid swallowed. “Okay.”

“You’ll show up every fucking morning at nine a.m., and you won’t leave until you finish the day’s work. Something comes up with your family, you fucking let me know. None of this shit where I have to hunt you down again. You feel me?”

“Yeah.”

“You start next Monday. Tell anyone about this shit, and I will take the video of your vandalism and share it all over social media. The police will have copies. But if you pay off your debt, we’re even. Yeah?”

“Yeah. Okay, Mr.”

“It’s Mr. Lanford to you. Only my club members call me Pres. Only my friends call me Grim. You ain’t either of those yet.”

He smiled at my use of the word yet. “Okay, Mr. Lanford.”

“Get out of here.”

Zane flashed me a grin. “Can I go with him?”

I ticked my chin toward the door. “Go.”

Once Wraith and I stood alone, he chuckled.

“You’re a softie.”

“Kid seems like he could use a break. Everyone must have given him shit his whole life. He’s got no skills to survive.”

“True. Zane cares about Sid. They’re close. I appreciate it, pres.”

I opened my mouth to reply when Xenon nearly crashed through the chapel doors. “Fuck, pres. You’re never gonna believe this.”

“What?”

“Just fucking look. You’d think I was lying if I told you. Hell, I don’t want to believe my own eyes.”
