Gigi? What did he mean?
“I’m sorry, buddy. I don’t think I know who GG is.”
Creed threw one of his trucks. “Daddy. G. G.”
He looked frustrated.
“Hey, no throwing toys, Creed,” I growled.
He jumped up and laughed. “Daddy! Grrrr. Ghrowl!”
He seemed so excited that I pretended to understand. “Yes. Ghrowl. Grrrr.”
Creed jumped onto my lap. “Wuv you.”
Aw, man. I loved this kid more than I ever thought it was possible to love another person. The love for a child was indescribable.
“I love you, too. You’re my special little man.”
Trish lifted her head to kiss my cheek. “You’re so good at this.”
“That’s why I want more,” I teased.
“Me too.”
My heart swelled with happiness. For an hour, I held my little family, fucking lucky to have them in my life.
“WHY DID YOU SHOVE Afucking knife in my bike?” I asked, standing in front of Sid.
Wraith stood beside me, arms crossed over his chest. “Tell him.”
Zane rested a hand on Sid’s shoulder. “Don’t lie. Trust me.”
“They don’t know me,” Sid spat. “Why would they care what I have to say?”
Zane shook his head. “You can’t push everyone in your life away. We’re not all looking to hurt and betray you.”
“Fucking Zane. Always trying to talk me through shit like a goddamn therapist.”
This kid sure had a chip on his shoulder and enough baggage to fill a cargo hold. “You gonna answer me or face the consequences?”
I wasn’t going to hurt him, but I did want him to work off the damage to my bike for the cost of the repair. He wouldn’t learn shit about life if someone didn’t try to set him straight.
Sid scoffed. “I’m a minor. You can’t touch me.”
I let a little of the Reaper surface, enough to convince him I didn’t give a shit about the fact he hadn’t turned eighteen yet. “Wanna bet?”
Something in my tone or expression must have spooked him. “Shit.”
“Speak up,” Wraith ordered.
“I, uh, got paid to do it.”
Paid. Just like we guessed. “You see the guy?”
“No. He wore a gray hoodie. Gloves. Sunglasses. I don’t know who the fuck it was, but he paid me five hundred bucks to stab the seat with the picture.”
“Do you know the woman and child in the photo?” Zane asked.
