“What is it, kid? I don’t have all goddamn day.”

“I’ll be quick. I’d like to prospect for your club.”

“Why?”

“Because I want to be a part of something. To have brothers who care about me and guys I’d do anything for, the same as they’d do for me. I love to ride. Have my own bike, too.”

“It’s a piece of shit,” Rael remarked as he joined us, ticking his head toward the old bike I didn’t recognize.

I didn’t reply to Rael. He could fuck off. I was pissed at him, and he knew it.

“Not goin’ anywhere, pres. I’ll take the silent treatment until you love me again.”

Christ. “Get me a beer,” I bellowed.

Rael grinned. “Sure.”

He walked away as I muttered under my breath.

“Well? Can I?”

I almost forgot the kid was here. “It won’t be easy.”

“I know.”

“You need a sponsor. I won’t be doing it.”

“I will.” Bodie’s voice surprised me. “I think he deserves a chance.”

Fine. “Don’t cock it up, Sid. You get one shot. That’s it.”

He grinned way too damn wide. “I won’t.”

“You still owe me for my fucking bike.”

“I’ll work seven days a week.”

“Yeah, you will. The next year will kick your ass,” Bodie promised. “You answer to me and our president, Grim. Don’t fucking call him that until you get permission.”

“Okay. I won’t let you down.”

“Don’t ever promise that shit,” Bodie corrected. “We all fuck up.”

“It’s how you fix it that matters,” Rael added, joining us as he tossed me a beer.

“I’m headin’ in to see Trish. Go to Mammoth if you need anything.”

My V.P. would ensure I was only bothered if things were serious.

“DADDY!” CREED JUMPEDup from the floor to tackle Grim as he opened the door. “I’m all better!”

Not really. A couple of doses of antibiotics had helped, though. He was feeling much better. But the infection would take ten days to be fully eradicated.

“Grrrr. Ghrowl. G.G.”

Grim hugged Creed, picking him up as he joined me on the couch. “I think he thinks to growl at me because I’m such a badass.”

It was a joke, but maybe he was right. Creed admired his father. He might be young, but he was brilliant. He understood Grim and the club members were different. I could tell.
