Then, I remove Beth’s pizza from the oven, and pick up the slicer.
Jack picks up a fork and spears a ravioli parcel.
I give him a warning look.
“What?” he asks. “I’m just doing a taste test.”
I shake my head at him before I slice up the pizza.
“Don’t worry, I’m only stealing from G.” He eats and nods, giving me a thumbs up before putting the fork down. “All good.”
“I know,” I utter, as I slide the plate with the pizza onto the tray.
“I think I’ll have the ravioli for lunch,” he says, winking at me.
“You’ll be lucky if you get bread and water at this rate.”
He laughs, picks up the tray and steps out of the kitchen.
I start getting another three portions of ravioli ready.
Doing lunch to order isn’t going to be feasible once we’re busier, and I know it.
From what Jack told us last night about Beth’s ideas I’m pretty sure we’re about to experience what it’s like to run a busy city restaurant so my pack are going to have to get used to eating whatever I have time to cook now.
Chapter Fifty
Gio
Irealize when the food is done, Beth is probably going to leave soon, and I don’t like the thought of that. It’s barely been an hour. It’s not enough.
“That was perfect,” she says, with a sigh as she puts her napkin down on her clean plate.
“You think that was good, you should try the tiramisu for dessert,” I try, already knowing she’s going to refuse to eat another bite.
“I don’t think I could manage a sip of water, never mind a spoonful of dessert,” she admits.
“Well, I don’t do well without a coffee after dinner, so I’ll grab myself one of those from the kitchen if you don’t mind sitting alone for a minute.” Anything to get her to stick around for a little longer. I figure I can pretend to drink even if I’m done.
“No problem. I don’t think I could move if I wanted to.”
I get up and walk through to the kitchen, where I find Jack leaning against the wall, while Enzo kneels on the floor in front of him, hands on the buckle of his belt.
“Am I interrupting something?” I ask, making Jack groan.
“Don’t tell me we can’t,” he says, giving me a pleading look.
“You can,” I say as I pass by behind Enzo to grab a coffee. “But I’m trying to get Beth to stick around, so you might want to make it a quick one, because my next suggestion to her is a tour of the restaurant.”
“We can be quick,” Jack assures me, as he runs a hand through Enzo’s hair.
My pants tighten a little at the thought of what they’ll be doing back here while I try to convince our future mate to stay. Arrow’s usually the one who talks someone into doing something sexy that isn’t always advisable because of the circumstances. He’s also the one who smooths things over if we happen to get caught. Omegas have an uncanny ability to calm people down and convince them to ignore the things that have them riled up.
Jack isn’t the one to rock the boat.
Beth’s presence has him excited.
He made that clear last night, when he spoke about his plan.
