"Thanks." Jasmine smiled back at me, but I could tell it was forced. It was obvious that she was really struggling. "Anyway, I'm really super happy for y'all. I'm gonna go get a drink and enjoy the awesome party. Congrats again! Can't wait for the wedding!"
I watched her walk away, worried. Jasmine seemed off lately, more stressed than usual and Taylor had confided that she hadn't even wanted to come. She said Jasmine felt out of place in the swanky club, and was self-conscious about not having anything nice to wear. I personally thought it was ridiculous, Jasmine always looked gorgeous and in her sparkly tank and fitted jeans, with her long dark hair in a French braid that fell halfway down her back, today was no exception. Jasmine was stunning and would be even in a burlap sack, but when you didn't feel good about yourself, I knew from experience, it made everything in life that much harder.
Jasmine reached the bar and I turned back at Bas.
"Penny for your thoughts?" he asked, squeezing my hand.
I sighed. "I just… wish I could help. But starting over from scratch isnt easy and we have a wedding to plan, and it's not like money would solve all her problems. Or like she would take it even if I offered."
"Yeah. What she needs is a Daddy."
"Preferably of the sugar variety," I agreed with a grin.
"What… you don't think she could benefit from our Rent-A-Daddy services? We could get her to sign up and then hook her up with Bain. Didn't he have a crush on her back in the day? I think I could be on to something here."
"Trust me, you're not. For one, she couldn't afford the fee, for two, Bain would break her heart, and for three, Jasmine isn't kinky. Like… at all." I shook my head. "Nope. We're just gonna have to be her friends, and hope things get better on their own."
"Yeah. You're right." Bas leaned in for a kiss and pressed his lips gently against mine. "I'm just so happy, I want to see everyone else get their happy endings now too. You've turned me into a happy endings junkie."
Giggling, I looked over to where their friends were gathered near the bar. Theo was the only one that had a woman with him, and Erin was a client. "Happy Endings for everyone? With that crew? The perpetual bachelors? Please. This new Rent-A-Daddy thing is as committed as they get."
Bas snorted as he followed my gaze in time to see Lennon shotgun a beer from the can and Archer throw a shelled peanut into Bain's mouth. "You might be right. Oh well, at least we finally got ours, and if I do say so myself, it's about damn time."
I smiled happily, filled with contentment. "You can say that again, Daddy."
Bas smirked, the corners of his mouth turning up. "It's about damn time," he whispered, covering my lips with his and kissing me like we were the only people in the room. Suddenly, I couldn’t wait for the party to be over. I wanted to take my Rent-A-Daddy/Forever Daddy home and give him his own happy ending…
