Her Unexpected Bonus by Rogue London
Prologue
He reached down, grabbed hold of a sweaty hand, and yanked the much smaller boy to his feet. When he released it, the boy stumbled back, eyeing him with a resigned glance. He had zero football skills to commend him, and how he’d got into football summer camp was beyond the larger boy.
Recently turned thirteen, Gregor was close to six feet tall and weighed in at 180. The kid in front of him was gangly and couldn’t have weighed over 100 pounds soaking wet.
Gregor had tried telling the coach it was a mistake, but he added him to the roster anyway, mumbling something about sports having to be fair to everyone.
“Hi, I’m Atticus.” The thin boy stuck out the same sweaty hand Gregor had just released, waiting for him to reciprocate the handshake. Gregor didn’t wish to make friends with the kid as the rest of his team had blackballed him already, and Gregor wished to avoid the target list.
Why did he have such rotten luck? he lamented.
“Gregor.” He took the extended hand firmly in his and shook it. Then he dropped it as haunting images of his team coming in last place and not making it to the Spartans Super Bowl because of Atticus, consumed him.
Atticus seemed to pick up on his thoughts. His glance at once becoming hard and unyielding.
“Don't decide on me yet, there is more to me than meets the eye. I’ll make you proud, I promise.” He ran back out on the field, only to get annihilated another ten times before practice ended for the day.
But five weeks later, it was Atticus being carried off the victory field on their teammates’ shoulders after scoring the winning touchdown for the championship title.
Chapter 1
Twenty yearslater
Gregor
Gregor hung up the phone and shook his head. “What else could go wrong today?” he mumbled under his breath. Swiveling his office chair, he gazed out the window at the sprawling acreage that encompassed his world.
This time of year, snow covered his kingdom in a thick blanket. The peaceful scene out his window was almost a mockery of his roiling emotions. He hadn’t realized until now how much he depended on his personal assistant, Susan.
Gregor replayed their conversation which had been the proverbial nail in the coffin.
“Hello, Mr. James, it’s Susan. Susan Whyst.”
Gregor chuckled. “I’d know your voice anywhere, Susan. No need to introduce yourself.”
Susan was pregnant with twins and wasn’t due to go on maternity leave until March, giving Gregor plenty of time to go through the applicant files and set up interviews. Then she’d called yesterday to say that due to pressure on the pelvic floor, her OBGYN ordered bed rest until the birth of the babies.
“I’ve spoken with my Dad—uh, William and Kent—and they, we, have decided it’s best for me to let you know now.”
Gregor felt a pit open up in his stomach.Don’t say it, don’t say it.
“I won’t be coming back after my maternity leave. I’m sorry, Mr. James, for leaving you hanging, but we have discussed this in great depth.”
“Your daddies wish to take care of their Little girl, I understand that. But are you sure this is what you want, Susan?”
Gregor heard the sigh of relief as she gushed about how happy she was, and they’d ended the phone call on a positive note. But their conversation continued playing on a loop in his head.
Since creating his vast empire in Colorado, Gregor’s company had reached out to the BDSM community, letting them know his company was kink friendly. Susan had been a Little looking for a Daddy when she came to the company. She began her career in shipping, where she met Kent. William, Kent’s best friend, traveled with him from Australia with dreams of spending time on the Colorado slopes.
Gregor had met them on the ski hills and sent them to HR for an interview. Both men were hired on the spot, William in receiving and Kent in shipping. Months after the three of them hooked up, Susan applied for the position as his PA. It was hard to believe that had been three years ago.
When Atticus had first suggested Gregor needed a PA, he laughed at him. But the exponential growth of the company that began shortly after had changed Gregor’s mind, and he was thankful for the timely suggestion.
Although he’d never tell Atticus that. His head would swell and keeping his ego in check was a job Gregor prided himself on.
Gregor had witnessed the growing relationship between his three employees during company parties and retreats, and while happy for them, their effortless relationship also frustrated him. William and Kent were living examples of two Doms sharing one woman successfully. He wanted what his employees had, a woman to share with his best friend and brother from another mother, Atticus.
