"You bought it? Our Christmas present is… a building?"
"Explain," I stammered, feeling a rush of anxiety and excitement building in my chest.
Logan took a step forward and took both our hands. His eyes were on me as he spoke. "Liam told me he wished we had a place to mingle with and meet other throuples like us. I promised him I would find one, and take him, wherever it happened to be. But I couldn't find one. And Miles gave me a tour of this place, and to quote him, I knew I couldn't let it get turned into another bougie-ass French restaurant."
"So… you bought it… for us?"
"You said you wanted a change. Something with more flexibility, something outside of corporate America."
"A club?" I repeated, dumbfounded.
"Yes." Logan spoke slowly, squeezing my hands and nodded. "Clubs need spreadsheets, number crunchers, payroll reports, inventory worksheets, etcetera. You'll be able to put your skills to good use while being your authentic self."
"But… it's a club," I stammered, still in shock. Don't get me wrong, I was excited by what he was proposing, but still having a hard time seeing the forest through the trees. "Who's gonna do the club stuff?"
"Well, hopefully that's where Noelle will come in as our club floor manager. Work the bar, train the staff, all the things she already does."
"Really, Daddy? I get to be the boss?" Noelle squealed and bounced.
"At work, yes. When it comes to the day-to-day operations."
She squealed again, then stopped short, narrowing her eyes. "What are you gonna do?"
"I'm going to sell real estate during the day and be here with my loves in the evenings, doing whatever is needed." Logan shrugged.
The actual operations of the club weren't his forte. This was his gift for us, and something we could all do together. It was thoughtful, extravagant, practical, and perfect.
"It's perfect, Daddy, and so, so beautiful! Thank you so, so much!"
"Yes, thank you." I blinked as I spoke, still shell-shocked and processing, hoping Logan would know I really did love it. This was just how I rolled, just as Noelle tended to jump in with both feet, full steam ahead.
Like now. She grabbed both our hands and pulled us over to the tall windows with the stunning view of the lit-up Las Vegas Strip.
"I wanted to wait. I was going to wait. Not long, but at least a week. I was going to try, anyway. But this is so perfect, and Daddy Logan's gift feels like a new beginning. "Noelle was rambling, not making much sense. Logan met my gaze and frowned. I shrugged. Noelle kept talking.
"This has truly been the best Christmas ever. Not only did I get to spend it snowed in with my two favorite people, but we worked things out with our parents, Daddy Liam quit his job, Daddy Logan bought a club, and all those things led us to this exact moment. I want to do something big, too. Something that will chart the course for the rest of our lives."
"What are you going on about, little one?" Logan growled, furrowing his brows as he scowled in confusion.
"I'm getting to the point, promise." Noelle rummaged in her bag and pulled out a coin purse.
Then she knelt on the floor, took our hands, and got to it.
"Daddies, I love you. I love what we have together and the life we've built. I want to build on that love and grow into a real official family." She dropped Logan's hand, reached into her coin purse and withdrew two thin gold bands.
"Logan Donovan and Liam Kwan, I love you. Will you marry me?"
It was fun to watch Logan be the speechless one for once, as I quickly accepted, letting Noelle slide the ring onto my finger.
"We all agreed we would wait to get married until…"Logan finally sputtered.
"Until our families knew, until we had the freedom to be official at work, until Liam could come all the way out of the closet." Noelle cut him off, ticking each item off on her fingers. "News flash. Those things have all happened."
"Still… you're supposed to wait for me to propose." Logan sputtered, and I chuckled. It was fun seeing him being the one caught off guard.
Noelle shrugged as if that little detail was of no importance. "So? I don't like following directions, and I've been waiting long enough."
"Little one… you're naughty." He looked at me. "Isn't she naughty, Liam?"
"Very," I agreed, fighting a smile. "What do you think we should do about it?"
Noelle rolled her eyes. "Duh! Say yes and marry me, so I can be your naughty girl forever!"
Logan grinned and offered his hand, fingers splayed apart. "Yes. But I'm still miffed that you did the proposing. I might have something to say about it later, when our parents leave."
Noelle slipped the ring on his finger and beamed. "I wouldn't have it any other way."
The End
