"Want me to help you make breakfast, Daddy?" Noelle asked Logan as I pulled myself off his lap.
"No, little one. I want you and Daddy Liam to make breakfast while I make a few work calls."
Logan pulled himself to his feet, kissed us both, and headed toward the bedroom.
Noelle stuck her hand in mine. "While we cook, Daddy, you can tell me all about your terrible, no good, very bad morning."
Chapter 9
Logan
I could have taken the day off, and would have, but I wanted to make sure Liam didn't feel any family pressure to rush into a job he'd hate. So while the two of them made breakfast I sat on the bed and checked my emails and then my voicemail. Email was boring, but positive. There were a few new local homes that had just gone up for sale, and a club/restaurant location for lease in a casino on the strip. All of the properties would go fast and carry a hefty commission for the lucky buyer's agent. I hoped that would be me. Copying the url for the listings, I sent the links off to a few clients who might be interested, then checked my voicemail.
"Donovan," my boss boomed over the line on the first message, using my last name. "I got an early Christmas present for you. The Langolin property up on the hill went through. They rushed it to closing and want us to be there today at noon. I know the roads are a bitch, but if you can get to the title company, there's a big bonus on top of your already hefty commission." I whistled, and pulled up the weather app on my phone. The Langolin manor was a five million dollar property at the top of a mountain right outside the city. There was no way I could get up there in these conditions, but with a lot of caution and a little bit of luck, I might be able to make it to the title company.
It wasn't exactly how I wanted to spend my day, but the huge commission would take a load off Liam's mind for sure. I took a quick shower and dressed to impress in my nicest suit and Italian leather wingtips, grabbed a thick wool trench and my keys, and headed out just in time to catch Liam and Noelle putting breakfast on the table. Crap.
They both jerked their heads to look at me and stared in confusion.
"Why are you so dressed up?" Noelle asked.
"I have to meet a big client at the title company to close on their property."
"Is that even safe?" Liam asked.
"We're gonna find out." When he scowled at me, I grinned and clarified. "If it's not, I won't go, but this is a big deal and my boss wants me there."
"What about breakfast, Daddy?" Noelle asked. Just like Liam had been a few days before, she was dressed in only an apron.
My cock stirred at the sight of her, and I winced. Now was not a good time to get horny. "Save me a plate, princess. I'll eat as soon as I get home."
I headed for the door and Liam stopped me. "You need baggies over your feet or you're going to ruin those shoes the second you leave the house. And you won't be able to go anywhere until you dig out the car, so let me get dressed and help you." He eyed me up and down, taking in my expensive duds. "Actually, scratch that. You sit down and eat some breakfast while I do it for you."
I opened my mouth to argue, but he shook his head and shot me a look that was usually reserved for Noelle, so all I said was, "Thank you."
Noelle led me to the table and set a plate in front of me. I hadn't realized how hungry I was, and by the time I'd finished a ginormous serving of bacon, eggs, hashbrowns, and toast, Liam came back, his face chapped from the cold and his pants soaked from the knees down from the snow.
"I dug out the car, but it's pretty bad on the roads. Not sure how you're gonna get anywhere. Be careful," he admonished gently.
"I will." Kissing them both goodbye for the second time, I headed out.
The roads were icy but basically empty and the title company was only a few miles away. I drove at a snail's pace and made it barely in time. My boss was there, along with the buyer, seller, and listing agent.
The agent, Miles Hardy, was an acquaintance of mine, a friendly colleague I had been known to share a meal or a drink with from time to time. We all posed for a few photo ops, they signed on the dotted line, and the sellers handed over the keys, more photo ops, then finally it was over.
As we walked out to our cars, Miles made small talk. "That's a nice commission to get right before Christmas. You got any big plans for the money?"
"Not really. Probably just put it in savings." I was pretty sure Miles would be chill with my sexuality and home life situation, but I saw no reason to disclose my personal stuff or the loss of Liam's job.
"My wife is already booking plane tickets for a big vacation, if I know her," he joked. "Hey did you see that casino property I listed this morning?"
"The club? Yeah, it's a beauty. You think you can unload it?"
"Prime casino property right on the strip? Heck yeah. Opportunities like that don't come around very often. Someone's gonna jump on it. It might take a little while, but the right person will grab it. "
"Cool."
"You wanna see it? I'm telling you, you can't truly appreciate it unless you see it in person."
