The smile that spread over his lips made her knees go weak.

“I do. Do you understand me?”

Joy filled her like she had never felt before. Throwing her arms around his neck, Amy couldn’t hold back the tears that spilled.

“Yes! Yes, I can understand you! Oh, God, thank you!”

A deep, sexy chuckle escaped the man as he held her to him. It took a moment for Amy to remember that they were not alone. Shame filled her once more at the thought of the other man seeing her act like this after kissing him on the rock. But she was so drawn to this man as well. She wanted to touch him, to kiss him as well and to feel his hands on her body the same way she had felt his brother's hands on her skin.

“What is your name?” The man holding her asked, lowering her down to the rocky ground.

She blinked, meeting his eyes. “Amy. I’m Amy Mackenzie.”

“Amy,” he said, smiling as he spoke the word, “I am Cole. The male you where kissing is my brother, Cane, and the third male is Iron, our commander.”

Heat filled her cheeks at the mention of her lip-locked with his brother.

The tall red-haired male stepped closer, a small grin on his lips. “I see we have found our thief,” he said, a brow raised as he took in all the supplies she had stolen over the last few weeks.

She wrinkled her nose, a shy smile on her lips. “Sorry,” she said, stepping closer to Cole when Iron approached her.

Cole’s strong arms wrapped around her, pulling her into his chest and held her as Iron paused in front of them.

“May I see your wrists, Amy?” Iron asked, his eyes turning serious.

Amy frowned, giving Cole a quick glance. She wanted to pull Cane closer too, to help her feel safe under the burning gaze of Iron, but he wasn’t in the room with them anymore.

Instead of answering the question, she searched the room with her gaze but couldn’t see Cane.

“Where is Cane?” She asked, glaring up at Iron.

Iron raised a brow. “He has left.”

“Why?”

Cole and Iron exchanged a tense look for a moment before Iron met her eyes again.

“I need to see your wrists, Amy. I will not touch you; I only need to see them.”

Worry for Cane filled her mind, even as she tried to tell herself that she didn’t know these men at all and had no reason to feel like this. But she still felt a sense of unease that he had left. The look in his eyes when he stepped away from her, after their kiss sent a shiver through her. He looked horrified with himself, his eyes filled with fear and pain. She wanted to go to him, to comfort him and to tell him that everything was going to be okay.

The only way to do that, was to go to the compound they lived in and find him. And the only way she would be able to do that, was if she showed Iron what he wanted to see. Reaching out her arms, she pulled up the sleeves of the tunic and exposed the dark markings on her wrists. Iron frowned down at them, studying them for a long moment, before he sighed and looked over her shoulder at Cole.

“I cannot see past the dark markings on her skin.”

Cole tensed, his body trembling again.

“Take her, Iron. Keep her safe from us, my old friend. Please.”

Amy frowned, “What?”

“Amy, come to me, little female. You are safe, I promise.”

“No. I don’t want to go to you. I want to stay with Cole.”

“Go to him, Amy,” Cole whispered in her ear, “you are not safe with me.”

She spun, glaring up at him. “Why not?”
