“Yes. She did not understand us when we spoke to her, so I came to get a translator for her. Iron, if she is real… If she really is ours…”
Iron grinned, a twinkle shining in his deep, dark eyes.
“Let us go to her and see. I have no doubt that you and Cane are still of sound mind. I also know that neither you nor Cane would ever harm a female.”
Cole nodded. Fear again flooded his body at the possibility that this could all be in their shattered minds.
Iron took the translator injector from the medic and gestured for Cole to lead the way.
It took them almost an hour to get back to the hole in the ground. Cole dropped in first, bracing for the warm water that lay below.
Once he was clear of the pool, Iron dropped in after him. He scanned the open space, and his heart sank. She was gone. So was Cane.
Fear that his brother may have done something terrible to her, he reached out with his mind.
Cane!
I’m here, brother, came the calm response.
Where are you?
In the room to the left of the pool.
Cole let out a short breath of relief when he pulled away from Cane’s mind. He didn’t sense any madness in his brother’s thoughts. No. He sensed... Peace. That, and an overwhelming joy that brought a smile to his lips.
With a nod to Iron for the male to follow him, Cole moved around the pool and made his way to the narrow passage on the other side.
He followed the dark hall, the smell of a fire tingling his nose. After a few seconds, he stepped out into another large, open space.
His eyes landed onto his brother and the female, locked in a kiss that had his body exploding with a fire that he had never felt before.
“You couldn’t wait for me to return?” Cole asked with a smile.
The female let out a squeak as she tore her lips away from Cane’s and spun to look at him. Her cheeks grew pink when she saw they were no longer alone.
His body tightened at the sight of her full, swollen lips from her kissing Cane, the desire filled eyes and the scent of her arousal almost knocked him to his knees.
Cane stood when he saw Iron enter the space.
“Iron? What are you doing here?” Cane asked, giving Cole a concerned look.
“I asked him to come, brother. I need to be sure this is not the madness.”
Cane paled as he looked down at the female still held in his arms. He knew what his brother was thinking. He could feel the fear and panic radiating from Cane at the idea that he may have forced her to do something she didn’t want to do.
Cane released her and stepped away; his eyes wide as he stared at the small female.
“Before we get too concerned, let's see what the female has to say. She does not look afraid to me; I have never seen a female like her before.”
Nodding, Cole slowly approached the female, his arms held out at his sides. He watched her for any sign of fear, using all his senses. Her heart was racing, and her eyes were wide, but the overwhelming scent of her arousal from only moments ago masked any other scent in the room.
Her wide eyes darted between him, Cane, and Iron. He paused a few feet away from her, his eyes fixed on her stunning face.
Holding out a hand to her, he waited to see what she would do.
