He looked like he was in pain. His eyes were squeezed shut and his lips were in a tight line.
Had he injured himself when he fell?
Stepping back, Amy gripped his metallic hand and pulled him behind her as she rushed to the main part of the cave. He followed without protest as she led him to the rocks she used as a sitting area next to her bed. She pushed him to sit down and waited as he glanced around her home.
Fearing that he was hurt, she pulled at the black shirt, forcing it up over his chest.
He gripped her hands in his large palms, stopping her.
“You’re hurt. I need to check and make sure you didn’t break anything when you fell.”
He frowned, not understanding her words. She sighed and rolled her eyes, giving him her best ‘just do as I say’ look.
He grinned, a dark eyebrow rising as he released her hands. She pulled his wet shirt off, turning to hang it up over the branch she used to dry her own clothes, and turned back to face him.
Her breath caught in her throat at the sight of his naked chest. If she thought he was sexy before, looking at the hard defined muscles of his bare chest, the shining silver of his metal arm and the look in his eyes as he stared at her was enough to make her grow damp between the legs.
She swallowed, shifting in her spot as she tried to focus on his injuries. Scanning his skin for any bruising or blood, she frowned when she didn’t see anything but smooth, tanned skin.
She met his eyes again, tilting her head to the side with a deep frown.
He smiled wider, a twinkle of amusement shining in his eyes.
She narrowed her eyes at him, even though the corners of her lips twitched with her own grin.
He was fine. Clearly falling into the pool had not hurt him at all. But he sounded like he was in pain earlier.
She bit her lip, trying to think of what else could be causing him pain. Maybe her touch had been what made him react like that.
Needing to know, she stepped closer to him. He spread his legs, making room for her to step into him more and she placed her hand on his bare hot skin again.
This time he groaned louder, his eyes closing as his lips parted.
God, she was so tempted to kiss him. To taste him and see if his lips felt as good as they looked.
Just a taste, she thought, lowering her gaze to his lips. If I need to get away from him or things go bad, Emi and Tope will come help me.
With Kisma and Maku giving them a protective suit, this alien man wouldn’t stand a chance if he got aggressive.
With a small nod at her reasoning, she placed her other hand on his chest and leaned forward, brushing a soft kiss to his parted lips.
Chapter Six
Cole moved as fast as he could over the thick branches. His heart raced, but it wasn’t from running.
Was this really happening? Could it be true? Had they really found the one thing missing in their lives.
There was no way to tell if the female bore the mark of their bloodline on her wrists. The thick, dark markings she had there hid any other markings that may have appeared on her skin. Yet, he and Cane had the markings on their arms.
He paused in his run back to the compound.
Was this the madness taking over their minds? Could it be just wishful thinking for them?
Over the last few weeks, he and Cane had found their minds losing its grip on reality more and more often. Not that either of them would ever let Iron or the others see it.
But Cole could feel it in the connection they shared. He could sense his brother fighting with the same demons he fought every night.
What if this was just the madness taking over? He had heard many stories of males succumbing to the madness that came with being without a mate for so long. The vile and horrible things they did to females their shattered minds decided were their mates.
