Her eyes went wide when she saw Amy standing by the gate to her cell.

“Amy? What are you doing? Go back. He will hurt you.”

“Not if we get out of here. I need your help with Sam and Rachel.”

Mika was shaking her head as she moved further into the corner of her cell.

What the hell had they done to her to make her so scared, Amy roared in her head as she got to work on the lock.

Once she had the gate open, Amy slipped in and rushed to her friend. She fell to her knees on the hard floor in front of Mika and gripped her hands.

“Oh, Mika, what did they do to you?” She whispered, her heart breaking at the sight of the terror in the woman’s eyes.

Mika’s wide, watery eyes looked up to meet hers, before she lifted a trembling hand to her face.

“Amy? It’s really you.”

Amy smiled, a tear slipping from her eye, “Yes. It’s really me. I need your help, Mika, please. Sam and Rachel need us to be strong. Can you do that? Can you help me?”

Emotions flew over Mika’s face as Amy waited to see what the woman would say. Finally, anger and determination filled her eyes and she nodded. Amy helped her stand, hating to see her once strong willed, feisty friend so weak and scared.

“Come on,” Amy pulled her to the gate of the cell, taking a moment to listen to any sounds outside the door, then slipped out. She went over to Sam’s cell and got to work on the lock.

The moment it popped open, Amy rushed in and went to her sister. She carefully rolled Sam onto her back, closing her eyes for a second at the blood covering her face.

Mika came to her other side, her thin, pale hands searching Sam’s head.

“She has a deep laceration on her head,” Mika said, sounding more like the medical student Amy knew and loved, “It’s not bleeding anymore, but she will need stitches.”

Amy bent to cup Sam’s face, “Sam,” She called quietly, “Sam, wake up.”

Sam groaned, her lips parting in a silent curse.

“Sam, come on, wake up.”

Sam’s eyes fluttered open, her unfocused vision scanning the room, before they landed on Amy and widened.

“Amy?”

“Shh,” Amy said, placing a finger to her lips, “We can catch up later. We need to get out of here. Can you move?”

Sam slowly sat up, groaning more as she bowed her head. When she looked up again, she locked eyes with Amy, then threw her arms around her neck and pulled her in for a tight hug.

“I’m okay, Sam. I’m okay. We need to go.”

“Oh, Amy. I thought you were dead.”

Amy bit back a sob at the pain in her sister's voice.

“I’m right here,” Amy whispered, running a hand over Sam’s tangled, blood-stained brown hair.

Finally, Sam let her go and turned to look at Mika. sorrow filled her sister’s eyes when she saw the woman.

“Oh, Mika, I’m so sorry. I’m so sorry,” She cried, wrapping her arms around the other woman.

“It’s not your fault, Sam,” Mika said, tears rolling down her face.

“I’m going to kill that sick son of a bitch,” Sam growled, rising to her feet, “I’m going to rip his balls off and shove them up his ass.”
