“I know. Don’t make a big deal about it. I’ll fight the ticket. He won’t show. No harm, no foul.”

“Then why are you going out to dinner with IA?”

“Heard that, did you?” Lucy said, and brushed by him. He let her and opened her car door for her. “Some men like to take women out to dinner.”

Which apparently wasn’t the right thing to say based on the glower she got. He could have melted paint with that look.

“Wait for me,” he said. “I’m going to get my bike. I know a garage that will fix this tonight.”

“Saturday night?” she said doubtfully. Still, it would be really convenient if she could get the taillight done as soon as possible.

“I’ll be right back.”
