Oh.
“And you can’t leave me alone with them for any reason.” That was nonnegotiable but made Daddy sigh as he looked down at his lap.
“Deal, but this is going to be awkward, so be prepared.” Kissing my forehead, he lifted me up and set me down on the floor. “Pants up.”
Oh yes.
“That’s important.” Probably not completely necessary with how strange everyone was, but clothes on made for a better first impression.
But as Daddy fixed my pants, I started to see why he’d said it would be awkward.
Oops.
“Daddy, you’re…” Damp. Most of my mess had gotten on Daddy. “I…You should…”
He shrugged and looked around as he stood up. “One second.”
“We’re being patient still but we see your Jeep, Daddy Fraser.” The singsong tone in the excited guy’s voice as he said Daddy’s name made me bob my head. “We can’t hear grown-up sounds, so I know we’re not interrupting, Daddy Fraser.”
Daddy groaned as my head bobbed again. “Don’t even think about encouraging him with that nonsense.”
Giggling wasn’t the right response, so I had to be very careful as I nodded. “Yes, Daddy.”
Some people made it very hard to behave.
I got another glare from Daddy, but his eyes were smiling and he was having to press his lips together. So I knew I didn’t have to worry, but I didn’t know what he was doing when he started looking behind the couch.
“There we go.” Daddy held up…a bathrobe. “I knew I had one in here.”
Shaking his head, he slipped the dark blue bathrobe over his clothes and knotted it around his waist. “We need to get a few more of these. I only have one for you and it’s in the bedroom. That’s piss-poor planning right there.”
His ramblings didn’t seem to be for me, so I just waited until it’d stopped and he’d taken a deep breath. “Alright. We say hi. We invite them in. We excuse ourselves for a moment and I get new pants on.”
The whole situation was ridiculous but all I could do was nod.
All Daddy seemed to be able to do was shake his head, so he took my hand and led us to the front door as he kept up the slow back and forth movement.
It felt a bit like we were walking the plank…but that just might’ve been me because he was looking pleasant and relaxed as he finally opened the door. “Kenzie. Lorne. You’ve come to meet my mate, huh?”
Oh.
It was them.
They didn’t look nearly as scary as they should have and their smiling faces looked very innocent. Yes, I was starting to see why so many old men had told me to just smile and look stupid.
It worked really well.
“He needs friends, Daddy Fraser.” The less sparkly guy I assumed was Kenzie based on his lack of sequins and his shirt that said Soup Sucks smiled at Daddy. “You can’t keep him all to yourself. He needs to play and have fun with friends.”
The more sparkly man in the glittery silver vest smiled even wider and was so innocent looking I wanted to give him a hug. “We’re here to welcome him to the area and make sure he knows there’s lots of littles to play with.”
They were both very dangerous creatures no matter what they were.
“And friends to hang out with.” Kenzie poked the other guy who seemed to be Lorne in the arm. “We know that not every little plays with other people. Some are very private and we’ll respect that.”
They would?
I looked over at Daddy, who was trying not to laugh, and decided asking if they were serious would be rude.
