“Where is she?” I demand, not beating around the bush.
“She’s sleeping right now,” Warrant growls and steps forward. “You wanna explain to me how my sister ended up being your ol’ lady?”
“We’ll explain once we see her,” Viking remarks before I can get there.I’m not saying shit until I’ve got eyes on her. “Risk, you know us,” Viking continues. “Know we don’t fuck around.”
A moment passes as we all stay ready to face off when Risk finally nods. “Warrant, let’s let them at least see her.”
“Only one of you.” The way Warrant narrows his gaze on me, he knows it’s gonna be me who goes to see her and doesn’t like it.
Too fuckin’ bad. Ryann’s mine, and he’s just going to have to get over it.
I follow him deeper into the clubhouse, down a hall and down another. Neither of us speaks. Nothing needs to be said between us. My focus is on getting to Ryann and seeing for myself she’s okay.
Warrant stops just outside a room, opens the door, and steps in ahead of me, moving across what has to be their medical room. He walks around a hospital bed. His eyes locking on me as he takes his sister’s hand.
I don’t bother getting into it with him and drop my gaze to my woman. My beautiful Ryann. I move to her side, sit on the edge of the bed, and take her free hand in mine.
“Gorgeous,” I whisper, bringing her hand up to my lips and pressing a kiss to the back of it. She whimpers something in her sleep, eyes fluttering for all of a second.
“Sabotage,” she calls, my name no more than a breath.
“Yeah, gorgeous. I’m right here, baby.” I kiss her hand again and lower it back down. Getting to my feet, I glance over to Warrant. “You want to know why you didn’t know she’s my ol’ lady? It’s ‘cause when we rescued her and two others, she refused to tell the club who her family was. I knew she had a brother. I knew she had a mother. Her father died in a car accident. What we didn’t know was who that said brother was or her mother. She refused to give a last name, and we’ve kept her hidden from the rest of the world so she can live her life.”
“Rescued?” Warrant snarls, lip curling upward. He lets his sister’s hand go, rounds the bed, and goes straight out the door. Out in the hallway, he stops, waiting for me to join him. I do so much slower and close the door behind me.
“Yeah, rescued,” I confirm. “If you want to know what happened to your sister, then lose the fuckin’ animosity toward me and my brothers. We haven’t done anything other than protect her from the moment we found her.” I step into his space and get nose to nose with him. “That being said, Ryann is my woman, and I don’t give a fuck who you think you are when it comes to her, she’s mine and will be going home with me.”
“We’ll see about that.” Warrant sneers. “If she’s yours, then how the hell did you allow her to get away from you?”
“Was on a run with a few brothers. Got back to find out there was an accident, her car ran off the road, in a ditch, and she was missing,” I answer. I’ve got nothing to hide. “Now, are we gonna stand here and have a pissing match, or we gonna go join the others so my brothers and I can fill you all in at one time. I’m not one for repeating myself.”
Warrant holds my graze briefly before nodding and letting out a heavy breath. “Let’s get out there. I need to know what my sister’s been through before I let my mom in on the news she’s here.”
“I might hold off on that and make sure Ryann is cool with it,” I suggest. “Don’t know why she didn’t want you two to know she was alive, but Ryann is stubborn and gets pissed when things don’t go to plan, or she loses control of what she thinks she’s controlling.”
“You seem to think you know my sister so well,” Warrant spits, nostrils flaring.
I guess he doesn’t like the fact that his little sister isn’t so little, that she’s all grown up.
“I know her. I know the hell we took her out of. I know she’s determined not to let what she’s been through keep her from living her life. Also, I know I’d do whatever it takes never to see her hurt. I’d give my life for her, and she knows it.”
“Fuckin’ hell.” I hear Warrant mutter under his breath as he turns and stomps back in the direction we came from. We barely make it into the room when Warrant shouts, “Billybob, grab me a beer.”
Billybob? Who the fuck would give the kid a name like that?
A moment later, both of us have beers and settle at a table with the rest of my brothers, Risk, Butcher, and Pike.
“She good?” Maverick asks.
“Sleeping, her face is bruised,” I tell him and take a long drink from the beer, savoring the bitter taste.
“Now that Sabotage has seen Ry, someone start talking,” Risk demands.
“I’m sure y’all know my ol’ lady, Fawn, she’s Sabotage’s daughter,” Viking starts.
“She’s the same age as my sister,” Warrant mutters, glaring.
“Don’t start,” I warn him.
