“I am right behind you, brother,” Colt groans. He’s back in human form and buttoning up his shirt as he makes his way over to follow me out the door.
“Okay, Mom.”
“Go get your mate, Liam. We’ve got it from here.” Then to Colt, “Take care of your brother.”
“I will,” Colt nods. “Now, let’s go.”
“I love you, Mom,” I say as I run out of the house.
“I love you too, Liam.”
There is still the sound of claws biting into flesh as we get into my car.
Colt jumps into the passenger’s seat as we pull out of the driveway.
“Ready bro?” Colt says.
“Fuck yes!”
I am finally going to get my girl.
Selene is waiting for me, and I won’t rest until I have her safely by my side.
Chapter 56
Selene
Ihad to do it. She was losing too much blood.
She was in too much pain.
“It’s okay,” she had whispered over and over again as I prepared myself.
And then I had used all the strength I had in me to snap her neck.
The crack of her neck breaking reverberated in the small room.
She was dead.
I had killed her.
That was about ten minutes ago.
I had to do it.
It was the only way.
Maybe if I say it enough times, I will begin to believe it.
I’m still cradling Isabella’s lifeless body when the door swings open, and Levi and Blake walk in.
Their faces are twisted with anger, and my heart clenches with dread as I brace myself for their wrath.
“Did you feed?” Levi asks, crouching beside me. He notices that I didn't and I can feel the anger reverberating through him.
“You, bitch,” Levi spits, his voice dripping with venom. “I gave you the benefit of the doubt.”
“She was innocent,” I whisper.
