Katya is poised to go after Layla again when I whistle.

Her eyes are angry.

Good.

I want her angry. I want her in pain. I want her to pay.

“You bastard!” she screams.

“Tell me where Selene is?”

She lets out a loud, cruel laugh. “I don’t think so. You and your family are going to pay for what you did to my Thomas—all of you.”

My claws are itching for her.

They are the ones who are going to pay.

“Are you sure about that?” I growl.

I lock eyes with Katya. Her gaze is filled with malice as she prepares to attack. Adrenaline surges through my veins, and I brace myself for the confrontation ahead.

I lock eyes with Katya, and she lunges at me, her fangs bared and claws extended. I let out my claws and use my werewolf strength to fend off her vicious strikes. It’s a deadly flurry of claws and fangs.

I swipe at her, aiming for her throat, but she dodges with lightning speed, narrowly avoiding my attack. She counters with a series of swift strikes, aiming for vulnerable spots. I grit my teeth against the pain and, with a growl of determination, push back against her onslaught.

Suddenly, I see my chance. Katya hesitates for a split second, and I seize the opportunity, launching myself at her with all my strength. My claws find their mark, tearing through flesh as I aim for her throat.

Katya lets out a guttural scream of pain, her eyes wide with shock as blood spurts from the wound. She staggers backward, clutching at her throat in a desperate attempt to stanch the flow.

“Where is Selene?” I demand menacingly as I loom over her.

Katya’s gaze flickers with fear and defiance, but I can see in her eyes that she knows her fate.

“I will ask you just one more time, Katya. Where the fuck is she?”

“Why should I tell you? I am going to die anyway.”

I pounce on her and pin her to the ground. “This is not a war you can win. We have you outnumbered. How about I let one of my brothers bite you? You know how nasty wolf bites are to vampires.”

“You wouldn’t do that…” she whispers.

I can hear my father’s growl behind me. He’s attacked one of the other vampires. They are losing and losing badly.

“Try me, Katya. Because I could make this hurt a lot more.” I dig my claw into her jaw and push.

She is gurgling, almost choking on her own blood.

“Hargrave’s mansion,” she gasps. “Northwest. Three miles from here.”

I nod and deliver the final blow, tearing out her throat with a swift, decisive motion. Blood sprays across the room as Katya’s lifeless body crumples to the floor.

Breathing heavily, I turn to face my mother. “Mom,” I call out. “I know where Selene is. Hargrave’s mansion. We have to go now.”

“Ambrose’s place? Figures.”

“Yes. I have to get there now.”

“I can’t leave,” she says. “We have things to handle here. But as soon as we are done, I will be right behind you. Take Colt with you.”
