Page 59 of Catching Feeling

Hallie would sink into the floor and disappear if I told her that he licked my asshole last night.

My girl is still too modest to hear about things like that, even though she’s loving exploring things with Lane.

But sex is still new to her. Me, on the other hand, I am perfectly okay doing the filthiest things imaginable and have zero shame.

“Fair.” She sighs, sitting back against her seat and crossing her arms over her chest. She somehow managed to talk me into wearing an OU baseball jersey tonight, but I downright refused when it came to wearing Reese’s jersey. I am not encouraging that. That’s definitely a couple thing.

Hallie wearing Lane’s number 22 jersey clearly proves that I was right.

Instead, I opted for Grant’s. I may or may not have posted a photo on Insta of me and Hallie wearing the jerseys and the field behind us… Maybe because I wanted Reese to see it.

“I’m just saying, it’s weird. But kind of in a good way?”

Laughing, I shake my head and loop my arm around her shoulder, pulling her to me. “I love you, space babe. It’s just sex. It’s not like you and Lane. We’re not making it a big deal, and neither should you. ’Kay?”

“Okay, but you promise the moment that it’s more than just sex, you’ll tell me, right?” she says optimistically.

I nod. “Of course. But don’t get your hopes up because it isn’t happening. Oh, look, another field goal. Go team!”

Hallie rolls her eyes and corrects me. “You mean strike.” Whoops.

She stands and cheers for her man, because duh. It stays that way for the majority of the game, her leaping to her feet to cheer and then sitting back down with flushed cheeks in excitement.

I love that she’s such a fan now. I love that she’s so crazy in love with this guy. I love that she’s so happy.

When a foul ball is popped in the air, Reese yanks his helmet and mask off, letting them drop to the dirt as he holds his glove above his head in anticipation for the catch. It lands directly in the center with a pop, and the horde of people around us erupts in cheers.

Not gonna lie, that was kind of hot.

Seeing him in his element, doing something he’s so passionate about, is inspiring. And not only that, but he’s really good at it. It comes naturally to him. His movements were precise and controlled, instinctual even.

While I was on the edge of my seat waiting for him to make the catch, he didn’t seem the least bit fazed. Totally at ease.

Wow, I think I love baseball.

“That’s ballgame!” the umpire yells, and the entire stadium goes wild, cheering, chanting, and hollering the guys’ names. The announcers are officially calling the game, with OU taking the win 9-4.

We won. Reese just won the whole game with his catch… I mean, the team won.

I stand with Hallie and cheer, sharing in her excitement genuinely for the first time. We’re clutching each other and screaming like these guys just won the championship, and I… love it.

I love sharing this moment with her. Way more than I ever expected to.

Reese turns toward us behind the plate, covered in red dirt from the field, his eye black smeared from sweat, hair sticking to his forehead, and in the middle of a stadium going wild, he looks directly at me, those deep, dark brown eyes holding mine and somehow drowning out all the noise.

Then, he winks. And suddenly, I’m the only person in the stands. Or at least it feels that way.

My insides flutter with butterflies, and my face feels hot from his stare. His gaze drops to the Hellcats name stretched across the jersey on my chest, and the corner of his lip tugs up.

As if he likes seeing me wearing a baseball jersey.

“God, the way he looks at you, Viv,” Hallie sighs loudly in my ear over the crowd. “That boy is sooooo smitten.”

Quickly, I brush her off with a scoff. “Girl, you are seeing things. He’s just down to fuck. That’s all. Now, c’mon. Ready to go?”

She nods and laces her fingers in mine, standing and pushing her way across the crowded row until we’re making our way down the stairs.

Thankfully, most of the noise is still in the stands, so I can actually hear Hallie.
