"So...what? You'll come with me?"

I shake my head. "My duties lie with my people. But you can commute."

"Commute?" She chuckles. "Every night? That's ridiculous."

"Why is that? With our FTL technology, the trip to Earth only takes a couple of hours."

She opens her eyes wide and bites her lip.

"That-that's impressive, but still. Movie sets don't work that way, my sweet Lofy. They expect us to be in close proximity. We work long hours. Sometimes we barely get any sleep?—"

"Are you not the star of the movie? You can demand better working conditions. Or I can demand them for you."

Ayla purses her lips and raises an eyebrow.

"Do I even want to know what that means?"

"I can be very persuasive with just about anyone."

"Is that part of your empathy?"

I gaze into her eyes but don't answer. It's all right to leave some mystery behind my powers. More questions to want to get the answers to. More reasons to marry me and find out, perhaps.

As we approach Earth, I inform Ayla so she can get dressed in her Earthen clothes and I put the jet on stealth mode.

"I promise you, I'll be back as soon as possibl—" she starts when I put my hand up.

"What are you talking about?"

We're standing by the jetway with the ramp already down and the Earthen wind blowing inside the jet.

"I'm reassuring you I'm not going to make a run for it while I'm gone."

I narrow my eyes.

"Why would you need to reassure me? I'm coming with you."

"You are?" She scans my body with her eyes and her confusion clouds my mind.

"Of course. I may have broken tradition, but that doesn't mean I'm going to let you out of my sight. You are still mine, Ms. Kyle. I'm not going to let you forget that."

The confusion dissipates to a pounding tightness that shoots straight to my groin and I have half a mind to drag her back to the co-pilot seat and get a taste of her.

"Oh trust me, Lofy, I couldn't forget that even if I tried."

"Good. I need to ensure you're here to do your job and not attempt to escape our wedding. Now what you choose to do on the day is a different matter entirely, but until then, you belong to me."

Ayla breathes in and when she exhales slowly, the tightness both inside her and inside me gets even more intense.

It's good to know I have that effect on her, even when her freedom is only a few steps away. Not that I'd let her run, but still. I bet being back on Earth gives her hope nonetheless.

"That's all well and good, Lofy, but how on Earth are you going to follow me looking like this?"

I look down at my body and can't find anything wrong with it.

"You're blue? You have a tail? You glow?" she adds.

I smile.
