“I’ve already arranged a swap – you for my daughter’s freedom. He is going to make the swap at your special fucking place. We need to know where that is so we can get this over with.”

Her dark eyes narrowed at him, with a touch of a smile pulling at the corners of her lips. “Ahhh. So if you hadn’t found me you’d be screwed right now.” She shrugged. “Guess you’re going to have to convince me to help you. What’s in it for me?”

“We don’t let Raven know you’re fucking some prick behind his back and you can go back to whatever it is you do.”

She shrugged. “As you already seem to know. I don’t have much reason to want to go back. I haven’t been with Raven for almost two weeks now. Maybe I want to keep it that way.”

Talon leaned back in the chair and steepled his fingers under his chin. “I have a feeling you like this guy you’re cheating on Raven with. For him to risk what he is to be with you he must think you’re pretty special. It would be a shame if Raven found out who and where he was and what you’ve been up to.”

The smug look on her face broke and she stared at him with hatred. “You fucking cock-sucking asshole.”

Talon shrugged. “Been called worse.”

She flopped back in the seat and sighed. Looking up at me, she jerked her chin in my direction. “But get that imposter out of my sight. It’s freaking me the fuck out.”

I straightened to my full height, lifting my chin defiantly. “Who the fuck do you think you are?” Standing, I took a step toward the hateful woman, only to be stopped in my tracks by Ash.

“Come on.” He didn’t wait for a response from me, keeping his hand gripped firmly around my arm as he pulled me behind him and down the hallway to his room.

“What in the hell!” I spun on him the moment he released my arm as he closed the door to his room behind me. “She’s a bitch. Who is she to say I’m the imposter?” I was shouting so loudly that even with the door closed behind us surely my voice carried. “She’s the damned imposter. Maybe she’s pissed because she now knows what she could look like if she hadn’t spent her life laying in the sun shriveling up.”

“Look.” Stepping up to me, he placed a hand on each of my upper arms, looking down into my eyes. “Just hold back a bit. I’m not sure what’s going on with her, but there’s no mistaking you two are practically identical. How about we just get this exchange done and then we can dig into this. But until then, just stay away from her and it’ll be fine.”

I didn’t want to stay away from her. There was something about her that shook me to my very core. I had questions for her – lots of them. I couldn’t get answers stuck in this damned room. But for now, I didn’t have a choice but to give in. I still had a day and a half to get to the bottom of this before she could potentially be out of my life forever.
