Chapter 22

One week later

Lola

Each time the doorbell rang, I would feel a glimmer of hope that it would be one or both of my men. Each time I saw a motorcycle pass by me, I’d think of them. My mind was obsessed with Ash and Phoenix and I hated myself for it. How did I expect this was going to end? Did I expect them to both fall head over heels in love with me and beg me to stay with them? I huffed. The idea was laughable.

There were times when I considered tracking down their clubhouse and talking it out with them. I needed to hear from their own lips that they didn’t feel the same for me as I did for them. A part of me felt badly for how I left things. I didn’t even give them a chance to give me a proper goodbye.

But if they wanted me they would have said something, wouldn’t they?

My doorbell buzzed. This time I knew it wasn’t my guys because I’d ordered food in. Going to the door, I pressed the buzzer, allowing the delivery person to enter the building.

A minute later there was a knock on my door. I opened it up and my mouth dropped. “You’re not my food.”

“Way to state the obvious there, sister.” Not waiting for an invite, Gabriella breezed past me and into my apartment. Entering the living room she slowly spun around, her eyes drinking in everything. Finally she stopped and looked square at me. “We’ve gotta get you out of here.”

Laughing, I closed the door and made my way into the living room and flopped down onto the sofa. I hadn’t heard or seen Gabriella since the day at the cabin, her lack of follow-up had also been a bummer for me over the past week. “Yeah, well, not sure how that’s going to happen.” I pointed to my cheek, “At least not with me looking like Scarface.”

Rolling her eyes, she tossed her leather handbag on my glass and chrome coffee table and sank down beside me on the sofa. “You’re the most stunning woman I’ve ever laid eyes on.”

It was my turn to roll my eyes. “We’re identical twins.”

With a shrug, she replied, “Happy coincidence. Guess I don’t need to tell you the results of the test I got back.”

“And?” I knew the answer without asking but it was nice to hear my suspicion verified.

“We are indeed twins from what they can tell.”

I nodded, not at all surprised by the outcome. “Figured as much.”

“But I have another reason for coming to see you. We both knew that anyhow.”

“Okay.” Panic started to rise up within me. “Is Ash and Phoenix okay?”

A sly grin spread across her face. “I knew it.”

“Knew what?”

“You’re in love with those two giants.”

I was a little taken aback. Had it been that obvious? “How did you know that?”

“It’s a twin thing.”

“You just found out for sure that we were twins,” I protested, laughing.

“Is it Talon?” Her eyes, which were lined with dark black, narrowed as she stared at me. “Did that fucker forbid it or something? I swear to God if he did he’ll be dealing with me.”

“No.” Putting my hand up, I felt the need to deescalate the situation before she started making calls. “It’s not that. I don’t know. The guys brought me home and I haven’t heard from them since.”

“Then you were their fuck toy for a month!” She sounded even more outraged.

“No. Fuck no, just calm down. I didn’t tell them how I felt and they didn’t tell me how they felt and… I don’t know. Things just got left hanging.”

“Do you want to be with them?”

I hesitated in my answer.
