Chapter 12
Ash
Slowly, I awoke. It was past my normal wake-up time, I could feel it without opening my eyes that the sunlight was filling the room, despite the curtains being drawn. Something else was different. There was a weight on my arm, pinning it to the mattress, and a warm body lying against mine. A warm, soft, sweet-smelling body that smelled faintly like my body wash. The events of the previous day came rushing back to me. Opening my eyes, I confirmed it was indeed Gabriella – fuck, correction: Lola – lying next to me with her head on my arm, snoring softly.
Why we’d bothered to get showered after our escapade on her car was beyond me, since the moment the idea of going to bed came up, we claimed her a second time. Individually, not together, not yet anyhow. Though hopefully she’d be up to feeling us both in her at the same time, feeling her velvety pussy hugging my dick had felt like a fucking dream and now I was anxious to see if her ass felt equally as good.
Like a stalker, I lay there watching her, admiring her beauty as she slept, ignoring the fact that my dick was beginning to swell.
Nope, down boy, not right now. Plenty of time for that later.
What a turn of events. Just a few days ago this fiery vixen was the enemy and today she was sleeping peacefully in my arms.
As if sensing my wakeful state, she moaned softly, which didn’t help with my growing erection, and her eyelids fluttered open. Her onyx eyes registered confusion and her body tensed, like a scared rabbit unsure of what to do next.
“It’s all right.” I smiled at her to help accent my point.
She looked uncertain for a moment longer and then returned my smile “Good morning.”
“How’d you sleep?” Shifting my position, I turned to my side so we were facing each other. Unable to hold myself back, I reached out and stroked her cheek with the back of my hand. Every inch of her skin was silky smooth. I doubted I’d ever get bored of running my hands along her curves.
Lola seemed to consider the question before answering, “It was better than the last week. The bed in my dungeon isn’t very comfortable.”
“Don’t imagine it is. Comfort isn’t our priority when it comes to people who stay in there.”
She remained quiet a moment, catching her lower lip between her teeth.
“What are you thinking?”
“Do you guys kidnap people often?”
I chuckled. “No. It’s not a normal thing for us. This was a special circumstance.”
She hesitated a moment, bracing her head up with her hand. She didn’t even attempt to cover herself, I liked that. Too many women were self-conscious of their bodies. I didn’t understand it, a woman’s body was sexy regardless of the size of her curves. “Well, what does your club do?”
Boy, that was a loaded question and not one I was overly inclined to answer. “Listen. Club business isn’t something that members discuss with their old women. It’s business.”
“Do you guys murder people?”
A roar of laughter escaped me. She looked up at me with such naivety in her gaze. Another hard question. “Sometimes, we have to do things to protect our club and business interests. I assure you, we’re not out to hurt innocent people. We take care of business with as little conflict with the general public as possible. Does that make sense?”
I could tell by the uncertain look in her eyes that she didn’t understand.
“Okay. Later on today I’ll take you somewhere and show you a few things. Things that I can show you. Like our crops. Does that sound like a good deal?”
She nodded. “Okay. Deal.” Suddenly she frowned and looked over her shoulder. The bed at her back was empty. “Where’s Phoenix? He was here before I fell to sleep.”
“He most likely got up a while ago. He was gone when I woke up. He’s a very early riser.”
“Why’s that?”
Sighing, I rubbed the scruff at my chin. It was getting a bit long, almost time for a shave. “He has nightmares a fair amount?”
“About?”
Grinning, I gave my head a shake. “Boy, you are just full of questions this morning.”
She popped a shoulder. “Considering what we did last night, I think I’m entitled to a few answers.”
