Tears began to drop from my eyes. Tears of excitement. Tears of joy.

“You and this baby mean everything to me now, too,” I told Feliks.

He pulled me closer and hugged me and the baby together.

Chapter 26 - Feliks

I slapped my forehead for the sixth time that evening and squeezed it lightly as I sat patiently behind the wheel in my car. I’d quickly wrapped up at the office and made to rush home, only to be met with terrible traffic.

My eyes moved to my phone’s screen, which had just lit up, and a smile graced my lips amidst the stress I was currently under. For the past few months, looking at my phone’s screen had always done much to ease my stress—only in the last few days, the picture on the screen was different.

Jenna’s beautiful smiling face was still displayed on the screen, but now, there was another face on the screen, and I could not help but smile whenever it came into sight.

The current picture was of Jenna holding our son, Daniil; she still had a bright smile on her face, but now it had that glow, the type that only motherhood could give.

My thoughts were interrupted when a loud car horn blared behind me. That was when I realized that the traffic had cleared. I let out a deep sigh and stepped on the gas.

Finally, my heart leaped for joy as I pulled up into the driveway of my mansion. Coming back home, I had never felt this blissful and happy until Jenna entered the picture.

I hurriedly got out of the car, and my joy became complete when my eyes caught sight of a figure in front of the main door.

My smile broadened. I was slowly getting used to meeting this sight in front of me in a once empty and cold house each time I came home, which was one reason I always wanted to hurry home after work.

Jenna was standing before me with baby Daniil in her arms. She had a bright smile at the sight of me, like she’d been waiting for me to come home all day and was relieved at my return.

She looked as beautiful as always, and her bright eyes sparkled. Her curls hung loosely over her shoulders, cascading her oval-shaped face and making her look unimaginably beautiful.

The sight in front of my house was surreal, and I wouldn’t have imagined that it would make me as happy as I was.

She was holding a smaller version of me—only he had green eyes, which he’d inherited from his mother.

“Finally,” the word left Jenna’s lips as she approached me. With her free hand, she straightened my collar and then kissed my lips. “I’ve waited all day for you.”

“I’m here now.” I reached out my hands to take the baby, who quickly and eagerly came into my arms. I kissed him softly on the nose, and he giggled.

“If I may, Your Majesty,” Jenna said jokingly and reached out to take my briefcase, which caused me to chuckle.

I placed my free hand on Jenna’s lower back and walked into the house together.

“I made dinner,” Jenna told me, leading me to the dining room, where the table was already set.

“What’s the occasion?” I asked as I settled into the chair, drooling over the food on the table.

“I wanted to celebrate my husband, of course—also, I’m strong enough to make dinner for you now. Wait here while I get the wine.” She walked to the kitchen.

I watched her, and I noticed her outfit for the first time that night.

She had on a skimpy black gown that exposed all her curves. I could not remember the last time I saw her dressed like that, or I’d been too preoccupied with the thought of the baby’s arrival to notice her.

“I’d almost forgotten what your cooking tastes like,” I told her when she returned with the wine, “and of course, it tastes just as nice as I remember. Just like you.” I teased her, and she giggled.

We sat back at the table and talked for a while after dinner. Jenna tried to clear the table after a while, but I stopped her.

“The housekeeper will do that. Let’s turn in.”

She obeyed me immediately, and we went upstairs together. By then, Daniil was already asleep in my arms because I’d been cuddling him all along. Jenna noticed this and did not seem too pleased about it, judging by the pout on her lips.

“It’s obvious you and your son have ganged up to conspire against me.” She frowned prettily. “It takes forever before I can put him to sleep! He hardly ever stays calm whenever I hold him, but for you, it is always so easy to put him to sleep. I am his mother for crying out loud, and he is supposed to listen to me more than you.”
