“Thank you,” I replied. “I’m glad you came.”
“Are you kidding me? I had to bring her here,” Asher chipped in.
“Did you plan with someone to get here, too?” I faked a frown at him.
I used to be pissed at the way he’d set me up with Daniil, but not anymore. In fact, I was grateful that he did that. How else would all of this have been possible?
“Come on, now. Don’t tell me you’re still holding a grudge against me,” he said.
I gave a faint chuckle, and my husband materialized.
“Mr. Wolkov, congratulations.” Asher reached out, and they shook hands.
“Thank you,” he replied. “Now, if you’d excuse me, I'd like to steal my wife for a moment.”
“Sure, sure…of course,” he replied, leaving with Sienna.
“Come,” Daniil said, holding my hand. “Let's go meet my family.” He flashed an encouraging grin at me.
I was a bit skeptical at first, timid. But eventually, as he led me through the crowd to a secluded area, I loosened up. I’d married into a Bratva family, and therefore, I needed to live up to the expectations, the standard. There was no room for shyness or fear. This was a mafia family, and they lacked those petty emotions—at least to an extent.
We approached a couple of elegant individuals, seated at a table. I recognized one of them from the day Daniil and I had met again back in Valencia.
“Ah, Vivian,” he said with wide open arms as he walked up to me. “The woman with the brains and beauty—is that how you say it?” He embraced me slightly.
“You’re the other Wolkov from the conference room back in Valencia, aren’t you?” I asked despite already knowing the answer.
“I am.” He smirked. “The name is Vladimir Wolkov. Welcome to the family.”
He had the looks of a mean guy, maybe just as cruel as my husband when it came to the matters of the family business. His dirty blond hair glistened in the lights above, and his brown eyes reminded me of Daniil’s.
“Thank you, Vlad—can I call you Vlad?” I asked.
He scoffed. “By all means.” He studied me for a moment. “I see why Daniil fell for you,” Vlad said. “You’re a true gem.”
I blushed and looked at Daniil. who was possessively holding my hand.
Vlad seemed to have something else that had caught his attention, and I traced his eyes. I noticed he was staring at Sienna Summers.
Daniil led me to the rest of his family, and in that moment, I knew we had flipped to the next page of our story. We were about to delve into a new chapter and explore the contents it had in store for us.
Chapter 26 – Daniil
She yelped, giggling as I walked into the room, holding her in my arms. With the back of my leg, I slammed the door shut and set her on her feet.
“Whoa!” she exclaimed softly, admiring the lit candles that adorned the floor and the walls.
Their warm glow draped the entire room, adding to the romantic ambiance. The air smelled nice, and the bed before her was decorated with petals of red roses, spread over the white sheets.
“Oh, my God.” Her hands covered her mouth in surprise.
“You like?” I asked, walking up to her, my hands grabbing her waist from behind. “I had it set up specially for tonight.”
“I didn’t know that you could be so romantic,” she laughed lightly, resting her back against me.
“There’s more to me than a Bratva boss, you know,” I whispered into her ears.
“I’m starting to see that,” she replied, smiling.
