“It sounds like you and this woman really hit it off.”

“Not exactly. We hardly even talked, unless you count her chewing my ass.”

“She chewed your ass?”

“Let me back up a little. Do you remember me telling you about that really nice woman I met at the bar a couple of months ago? The one I said was looking for the fairy tale and the happily-ever-after?”

David searched his memory bank. “Vaguely. Actually, no, I don’t.”

“Okay, well, the night I met the nice woman, she was with the woman I can’t stop thinking about—the one who chewed my ass. They came in together.”

“So, how come you chatted up the nice woman instead of the woman who chewed your ass?”

“Mainly because I never got the chance. She was busy grinding against one of my regular customers on the dance floor most of the time.”

“She just left her friend at the bar to go off with a guy? That’s pretty cold.”

“Actually, her friend insisted she go dance with the guy. So, she did.”

“What was her name?” David asked, thinking this woman sounded a lot like Jules. “The one who chewed your ass?”

Evan looked up at the ceiling in frustration. “I can’t fucking remember. We got introduced, but … fuck. I can’t remember either one of their names, unfortunately. That’s the problem with meeting a hundred people every night.”

“So, why was this woman chewing your ass?”

“Well, when she was done grinding against that guy’s dick, she returned to the bar and thought I was hitting on her nice friend. She told me she wasn’t going to let anyone fuck around with her nice friend, especially not someone who just wanted to fuck around with her and then disappear. So, we got into a little bit of a verbal scuffle.”

God, she really did sound like Jules. “Did she do this with her nice friend right there?”

“No. She did it when her nice friend went to the bathroom.”

“Hmm. This woman sounds brutal,” David said, thinking she could be Jules’s twin.

“She was. But the funniest thing was that after she chewed my ass, I was hard as a fucking rock.”

“Jesus. You really do like the crazy ones.”

“I know. I can’t help it. And this one was on fire, crazy. God, she was hot. I kept thinking she was probably a firecracker in bed. Like, she’d throw you on the floor and then rough up your dick before she rode it to a dozen orgasms. Then, if you were lucky, she’d give you permission to come and make you thank her for it.”

For a moment, seeing how enamored his friend was by this obvious nut job, it occurred to David that Evan would probably really go for Jules; she was crazy enough to be exactly his type. However, David wasn’t going to touch that with a ten-foot pole. Jules could neuter a man before he even knew his balls were gone, and David didn’t want that for Evan.

“I actually thought about calling her. She’d given me a business card,” Evan went on. “But when I finally decided I was going to do it, all but the winning business card from April had gotten tossed, so I couldn’t. And she hasn’t come in the bar since—not when I’ve been working, anyway. And believe me, if she had come in, I would’ve known. This woman made the hair on my arms stand up. Not to mention, you know, my dick.”

“Well, if it’s meant to be, you’ll see her again,” David said, sounding like a cheesy inspirational poster come to life.

“Thanks.” Evan tipped his beer and took a long drink. “You’re a total douche.”

Chapter 11

After dinner on her Friday night ‘date’ with David, Paige excused herself to use the restroom, mainly to make sure she didn’t have anything in her teeth but also to check her hair and make-up, reapply her lipstick, and generally make sure she still looked amazing.

She did.

Per David’s ‘request’, she hadn’t worn a bra, which was subtly advertised by the cropped, chunky sweater she was wearing, that conveniently left most of one shoulder bare. All throughout dinner, David’s eye had been drawn to that spot, much to her delight.

Unfortunately, she had no way of knowing if he was honoring her request in return. Not until they got to the movies, anyway.

Satisfied, she started to make her way back to their booth, only to stop short at the sight of David having acquired some company while she’d been gone.
