He froze and turned to look at her with pain in his eyes.

“She’s not worth it,” Ruby said softly.

Jace nodded. “You’re right, baby. She’s not worth it.”

“Besides, Daddy already chewed her a new asshole,” she added.

Jace felt his eyes go wide at the same time Zane’s did and both of them burst out laughing. Walking back toward the Jeep, Zane leaned in the passenger door and pressed a kiss to Ruby’s lips.

“Yeah, Daddy did a pretty good job of that. Though you shouldn’t curse, baby girl. You’re too Little for naughty words like that,” Zane said gently.

Ruby smiled up at him and then back at Jace, who squeezed her against his chest.

“Thank you for sticking up for me,” she said.

“Nobody gets to hurt our girl and get away with it,” Jace told her.

He was glad she wasn’t horribly upset, though he also knew they would need to keep a close eye on her for a while to make sure she didn’t let thoughts of that woman fill her mind with doubt.

“I don’t know why we didn’t think of it before. Let’s go to Style Envy. It’s only a few blocks over and our friend’s Little owns it and makes a lot of the dresses there. She even makes some Little clothes. She’ll absolutely love you,” Jace said.

Ruby really hated bitches like that saleslady. Just because she was more sophisticated and Barbie-like, she thought she was better than everyone. The comments the woman had made hurt. They’d pierced right down to her bones and made her ache and wonder if there was some truth to the mean words. But when Jace came thundering down the hallway toward her dressing room and then chewed the woman out, Ruby knew there was no truth to the evil shit she’d said.

It didn’t mean that it didn’t still hurt, but between Jace and Zane, they were able to distract her and reassure her enough that she wasn’t focusing on it. Instead, she was feeling antsy about meeting another Little who belonged to one of their friends. They said she would love her, but Ruby knew she didn’t make a good friend. Her Daddies might like her needy side, but her friends typically didn’t. It became too much for them, which was hurtful but at the same time, Ruby understood.

“Her name is Addie and her Daddy is Knox. He and his brothers are all members of the club,” Zane told her as they drove through the busy, blustery streets of Seattle.

“Is she Little like me?” Ruby asked.

“Yeah, I think so. I think you two are around the same age in Little Space,” Jace said.

It only took a few minutes to drive to the historic-looking brick building with the gorgeous sign that read ‘Style Envy’ on the outside. Both Jace and Zane held her hands as they led her inside the store where a plus-sized woman who was absolutely stunning greeted them with a warm smile.

“Hey, guys!” she said, smiling up at the men.

When her eyes landed on Ruby, her smile seemed to light up even more.

“Hi! I’m Addie,” she said, holding her hand out.

Ruby reached out and shook her hand. “I’m Ruby.”

Jace smiled. “We brought our little girl to find a cocktail dress for her parents’ anniversary party.”

Addie bounced on the tips of her toes and grinned. “Awesome! Daddy and Maddox are on their way here right now so you might get to say hi to them, but why don’t you guys sit down over there and Ruby and I will look for the most beautiful dress for her.”

She liked Addie already. Not only was the woman a sweetheart, but she seemed genuinely happy to help Ruby.

Her Daddies went and sat while Addie walked around the store grabbing dresses off the hangers. The doorbell rang and when Ruby looked up, she felt her eyes widen as two men walked in, covered in tattoos and looking like they could possibly break bones for a living.

“Oh, that’s my Daddy and his brother, Maddox. Kind of intimidating, right? They’re both total gummy bears once you get to know them.” Addie giggled.

“Little girl, I’m going to put you over my knee if you keep telling people I’m a gummy bear,” the man who Ruby assumed was Knox said.

Addie just giggled and stuck her tongue out at the man. “Zane and Jace are here. This is their little girl, Ruby. Ruby, this is Knox and this is Maddox.”
